Michigan’s 2024 season ended in the Reliaquest Bowl with an 8-5 record. With the offseason in full bloom, players, including former Wolverines offensive tackle Jeffrey Persi, have begun making their moves in and out of their respective programs. For Persi, that meant signing with the Pittsburgh Panthers for the 2025 season.

Upon hearing the news, fans were left surprised and elated as they flooded X with their comments.
“Oh my god this is glorious 😩😩😩,” a fan said.
“Good get for Pitt 👍🏼,” another fan wrote.
A fan referred to Persi’s jersey number at Michigan, as they commented: “79 is such a GREAT Football #️⃣”
Persi is 6’8″ and 310 pounds and spent five years at Michigan from 2020 to 2024, where he played in 41 games. With the Wolverines, he started three games and was part of the offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award in 2022, and he also played an important role in the team’s 2023 national championship win.
This past season, he logged 168 offensive snaps, 156 of which were at his main position, left tackle.
“Is he good?” a fan wondered.
Another fan took into account that the Panthers are not a relatively well-known team compared to the Wolverines, as they wrote: “bros going from the big house to playing in front of tumbleweeds💔💔”
Another fan wondered why so many players were transferring out of Michigan, as they posted: “What is going on in East Lansing??”
Persi was recruited out of JSerra Catholic High in San Juan Capistrano, California, where he was regarded as one of the top 40 offensive tackles in the nation.
He received many offers, including from the Panthers, but he decided to go to Michigan, where he redshirted in 2020. After little playing time on the gridiron, Persi became a regular in 2022 and 2023.
