On Monday, head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the National Championship game, 34-23.
After emerging from the College Football Playoffs unbeaten, Day and some fellow Buckeyes players were involved in a minor golf cart accident in the bowels of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but it immediately spread across social media.
Social Media Reacts to Ryan Day and Ohio State Buckeyes Golf Cart Accident
Barstool Sports posted the video on their social media platforms. The video shows Day and several Buckeyes — including star quarterback Will Howard — taking too wide of a turn and hitting the wall.
“Ryan Day’s golf cart driver must be getting paid under the table by Lou Holtz,” Barstool joked. Holtz is a Notre Dame legend who won the National Championship with the Fighting Irish as a coach in 1988.
In response, one social media user detailed how the accident could have potentially been a disaster for Day and company.

“Nice way to lose a limb,” they added.
Fortunately, the incident was merely fodder for jokes and a slight speedbump after the national title. Nothing was going to get Ohio State down after climbing the college football mountain.
nice way to lose a limb 😬

However, another unser thought that Day may have been injured but did not want to show it publicly.
“Ouch. I think Coach Day got hurt but he’s trying to be nice and walk it off,” they said.
National Championship Game Recap
The Buckeyes defeated the Fighting Irish by a score of 34-23 to win their first National Championship since 2014. Though Notre Dame did mount a formidable comeback late in the game, a 21-7 halftime lead proved too much to overcome.
Quarterback Will Howard and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith continued to show why they are one of the best QB-WR duos in all of college football. Howard threw for 231 yards, two touchdowns, and added 57 rushing yards while Smith had five receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown. Ohio State was ultimately led by running back Quinshon Judkins, who had 121 total yards and three scores on Monday.
The balanced approach gave Notre Dame problems all night and was capped off by a 56-yard pass from Howard to Smith to effectively ice the game for the Buckeyes.
Looking forward, Ohio State is expected to lose numerous key players to the NFL Draft and will look very different next season. Even so, there is no doubt that Day and the current Buckeyes roster will enjoy this monumental win with their fans, even if a golf cart tries to get in the way.
