The East-West Shrine Bowl is once again gearing up for an exciting showcase of emerging NFL prospects. Announced on Friday, Jan. 17, the initial list of players invited to participate in the 2025 edition of the prestigious all-star event has already generated buzz among the fans.
The Details of the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl
This annual game is known for spotlighting top talent. It has proven to be an important stepping stone for future NFL stars, bringing more skilled players onto the field each year. The players will begin their practices on Jan. 25, and the action will culminate in the 100th annual Shrine Bowl game on Jan. 30. It will be hosted at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The game will air on NFL Network at 8 p.m. ET.
Over the past few years, the Shrine Bowl has consistently raised its profile. In 2022, two players, Isiah Pacheco and Brock Purdy, were relatively under-the-radar prospects but went on to have breakout NFL careers. The following year, the game produced notable talent like first-round pick Zay Flowers. The 2024 event set a record, with 57 players being drafted, including 10 selected within the first 104 picks and two making it into the top 50 picks.
Eric Galko, the Shrine Bowl’s director of football operations, expressed that the 2025 game will continue this upward trend.
“We’ve had an uptick in draft picks every year the past three years, and this year will be another uptick,” Galko said. “I don’t have any doubt about that. I’d be shocked if we don’t have more than a year ago. I just see the talent we have this year, and I get really excited, especially guys at the top of the draft.”
East-West Shrine Bowl Is Preparing To Become a Star-Studded Event
Among the standout names for the 2025 Shrine Bowl is Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The highly anticipated prospect, who committed to the event in Nov. 2024, is one of the biggest names this year.
As the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes QB has been under the spotlight since his college debut. Having already played at Jackson State before showcasing his talents at Colorado, Sanders has positioned himself as one of the most highly regarded quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders’ participation brings even more attention to the Shrine Bowl, but he is far from the only notable name on the roster. The event is packed with talent at various positions, including cornerback and defensive line, ensuring there’s no shortage of exciting prospects to keep an eye on.
The coaching staff for the East and West teams are also noteworthy. The East squad will be led by Marquice Williams, the special teams coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, while the West team will be coached by Shane Bowen, the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
