‘Knows How It Works in Dallas’ – NFL Insider Weighs In on Deion Sanders’ Potential Cowboys Move Following Jerry Jones Conversation

NFL insider is weighing in on the rumors regarding Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders potentially leaving to coach the Dallas Cowboys.

With the Dallas Cowboys on the search for a new head coach, fans and analysts have differing ideas on who would be the best fit for the job. The Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy, resulting in a vacancy for the position, leaving franchise owner Jerry Jones looking for the seventh head coach since the Cowboys’ last Super Bowl win in 1996.

One name that has repeatedly come up is Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders. Will Sanders take up the head coach job with the Cowboys? ESPN insider Adam Schefter seems to think so.

Adam Schefter Shares Take on Potential Deion Sanders-Jerry Jones Reunion

Sanders played for the Cowboys during his NFL career and has since taken a successful detour into coaching, starting off at Jackson State before moving to Boulder to coach the Buffaloes.

Coach Prime has since found tremendous success in his coaching career, establishing a reputation for his ability to transform struggling teams into tough contenders. And with Dallas struggling to reclaim its past success, many are finding the idea of a Sanders-led Cowboys run quite appealing.

During his time with the Cowboys, Sanders brought increased fame and attention to “America’s Team.” As a coach, he’s been able to replicate this feat with both the Jackson State and Colorado football programs. Schefter believes Sanders can do the same in Dallas.

“He’s a culture setter, he’s a big personality, he fits into Jerry’s ideas about that, and … I think Deion is smart enough, experienced enough, savvy enough to be able to be willing to do that job on Jerry’s terms, which is always key to that job,” Schefter said on his recent appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.”

“Things in Dallas are done on Jerry’s terms, and that’s not great for everybody. But Deion Sanders has been in Jerry’s World. He knows how it works (in Dallas). He knows what Jerry’s looking for.

“I think if the Cowboys decided that Deion was the guy, and if Deion would know exactly what he’s signing up for, and he could navigate that job on Jerry’s terms.”

Schefter’s interest in Sanders isn’t arbitrary. According to him, an NFL general manager told him that Coach Prime would most likely be next in line for the Cowboys’ head coaching position.

“A GM in the league called me,” Schefter said. “He said: ‘Get out your pen and paper and write this down. Deion Sanders is going to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.’”

Reports suggest that Jones and Sanders have already discussed the possibility of this happening, with future discussions already set. That said, Sanders has in no way confirmed this. From what he’s shared thus far, it seems that he will remain in Boulder for the foreseeable future.

“I love Colorado, I love my Buffaloes, I love everything that we’re building,” Sanders said on “Good Morning America.”

Meanwhile, Coach Prime has stated that he’ll consider coaching in the NFL if it allows him to coach his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, on the same team. But the odds of this happening, particularly with the Cowboys, are pretty low.
