The Ohio State Buckeyes are perennial college football contenders. A true blue-blood program, Ryan Day’s team prides itself on producing and developing talent. However, with a large contingent of seniors about to head to the NFL, a new era will dawn in Colombus.
The Buckeyes are used to talented recruiting classes, but what does the 2025 Ohio State recruiting class look like, and where does it rank compared to previous classes?
Who Is the Top Recruit in the 2025 Ohio State Recruiting Class?
The top recruit in the 2025 Ohio State recruiting class is Tavien St. Clair, a quarterback from Bellefontaine High School in Bellefontaine, OH.
Recruited from in-state, St. Clair will compete with Julian Sayin for the starting quarterback position in Columbus, with the two highly ranked recruits set to battle it out in the spring. St. Clair hopes to follow in the footsteps of successful Buckeye quarterbacks from the past.

St. Clair signed his letter of intent on December 4, 2024. The five-star recruit received offers from several prestigious programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and Penn State Nittany Lions, but ultimately chose to remain in his home state and join the Buckeyes.
Standing 6’4″ and weighing 225 pounds, St. Clair is a consensus five-star recruit and the top recruit in Ohio. He was ranked third among quarterbacks by 247 Sports, behind Michigan Wolverines recruit Bryce Underwood and Alabama recruit Keelon Russell, and he is the third highest-ranked recruit nationally in 2025.
