Deion Sanders seems to be enjoying his moment and getting ready for new challenges in life as a coach now that he doesn’t need to develop the talent of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, because of their commitment to getting ready for the 2025 NFL Draft.
As the Colorado Buffaloes returned to class this week, the head coach reflected on a new era.

Coaching his sons has taken a good amount of time, as Coach Prime has been doing this since 2017, when he became their high school team’s offensive coordinator. The Colorado Buffaloes head coach met with the team earlier this week and expressed how exceptional he feels despite losing his two sons and Travis Hunter to the NFL.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be standing before you,” Sanders said to the Buffaloes, as seen in an Instagram video captured by another of his boys, Deion Sanders Jr.
“I can’t explain how happy, how thoughtful, and how thankful I am for this day. I have been praying about this day, I’ve been anticipating this day. You’ve got to understand this is an emotional day for me, this is the first day I’ve been up here without two knuckleheads..”.
“This is the first day I’ve been coaching without my boys, which is a pleasure and honor for me. Now, I can just be a coach; I don’t have to be a dad. I like that, I love that. I’ve been praying about this day; Now I can just be a coach and not be a Dad”
In his final words, he got emotional, stating he truly enjoyed coaching his sons over the past seven years of his life before Shedeur and Shilo’s final game at Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.
Rumors that Sanders might follow his sons to the NFL have been circulating, linking him to the vacancy with the Las Vegas Raiders with the potential to keep coaching them (the franchise is considered a likely landing spot for quarterback Shedeur), but he has denied any of these rumors and looks set to enjoy the new beginnings of his life coaching the Buffaloes.
