Bryce Lance’s breakout season caught the college football world’s attention. However, he highlights a trio of North Dakota State Bison stars aiming to keep NDSU atop the FCS mountain.
Bryce Lance Staying in Fargo for the 2025 Season
Lance is the younger brother of former Bison star and current Dallas Cowboys backup QB Trey Lance. The Marshall, Minn., native came into 2024 with just one career catch, but he broke out in a big way to help lead North Dakota State to another championship run.
In the regular season, Lance had 46 catches for 696 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had two 100-yard receiving performances in their first 12 games. The first came against Tennessee State where he had seven catches for 106 yards and two scores and the next came against Murray State where he had four receptions for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
The postseason, however, is where he really made his mark, starting with a five-catch, 70-yard, and one-score outing versus Abilene Christian. The next week against Mercer, he ramped it up to five catches and 73 yards, adding two scores. In the semifinal against rival South Dakota State, he set a career-high with 125 yards and tied a career-high with three scores.
He capped his amazing postseason with a career-high nine catches to go along with 107 yards and a touchdown in the NCAA Division I Football Championship against Montana State. The Bison defeated the Bobcats 35-32.
He finished the season with 75 receptions for 1,071 yards and a team-record 17 touchdowns. The Bison offense ranked 20th in the nation in total offense and third in scoring offense averaging 38.1 points per game.
Lance never officially announced that he was heading to the transfer portal, so it was no shock that he decided to stay in Fargo, N.D. He will try to help lead the Bison to their 19th national title, and their 11th within the FCS.
Lance Is Not the Only Key Bison Returning
Lance will not be the only key member of North Dakota State looking to run it back. The team’s leading tackler LB Logan Kopp will return as well. He led the Bison with 73 tackles. He also had three sacks and three interceptions, including the one that sealed the victory in their first contest against South Dakota State in 2024.
Also running it back will be LB Enock Sibomana. He finished the year tied for second on the team with 56 tackles. He also was tied for third with 7.5 tackles for loss, adding on two sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.

The duo helped lead a Bison defense that ranked 22nd in total defense, 14th in scoring defense at 18.6 ppg, and 11th in turnovers forced with 25.
The Bison are atop the FCS world once again after a three-year absence. With this trio of starters deciding to stay in the Fargodome, they could be poised to be the top team in the country once again.
