Coach Prime Reveals Major Plans To Take Colorado Football to the Next Level

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders detailed his plans to continue the turnaround of the Buffaloes, even after his son Shedeur Sanders leaves the program.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has his hands full as he prepares for the 2025 college football season. The Buffaloes will be experiencing some significant changes as they make the necessary adjustments to become competitive and increase their chances of making it to the College Football Playoff.

The Buffaloes lost to the BYU Cougars in their last game of the season, which was also the final game for several players, most notably QB Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter who have NFL careers to look forward to.

Coach Prime is tasked with replacing these star talents with players who can fill their shoes in what might be the most crucial season for Colorado in recent years. That said, the roster is not the only thing that will experience some crucial changes.

Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders Drops Hints on Major Changes to Coaching Staff

On Wednesday, Sanders made a guest appearance on the show “Good Morning America” as part of a media tour to promote his Amazon Prime show “Coach Prime.” Prime discussed his coaching career, particularly his time as the head coach for the Buffaloes. While discussing how he transformed the Buffs from a struggling team to feared contenders, he dropped hints about coming changes to his coaching staff.

“I got a wonderful staff,” Sanders said. “I have a wonderful staff that I love, and we’re making some necessary changes right now to take it up to yet another level. But I have some wonderful people around me that … we keep them accountable. And the standard is the standard. We don’t digress from the standard.”

Coach Prime will be expected to keep the Buffaloes on an upward trajectory, and after a season that almost saw them make it to the playoffs, it would be natural to expect Colorado to succeed this time around. Regardless of the specific changes he will be making, Coach Sanders’ goal will be to take things to the next level in 2025.

Deion Sanders Reveals the Only Thing That Could Take Persuade Him To Take an NFL Head Coaching Gig

Reports of Sanders making a potential move to the NFL circulated through college football media for much of 2024, only fading away towards the end of the year. However, Sanders’ recent appearance on “Good Morning America” might have revived these rumors.

Coach Prime addressed this topic after being asked what condition he would have for moving to the NFL. He suggested that he could make an NFL move if it allowed him to coach both Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, two of his sons that played for him at Colorado.

“The only way I would consider is to coach my sons. Not son. Sons,” Coach Prime said. However, he also reasserted his dedication to the Buffaloes. “I love Colorado, I love my Buffaloes, I love everything that we’re building, I love everything that we’re doing and I love Boulder, Colorado.”

While Sanders may love the idea of coaching both his sons in the NFL, the chances of both Shedeur and Shilo making it to the same NFL team are low. For now, it seems Coach Prime will remain at Boulder for the foreseeable future.
