College football bowl season is about ending your season on a high note. And there’s no better bowl game to go out on a high than the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.
On Saturday, Snoop himself gave us hilarious moments during the Arizona Bowl, calling out plays and suggesting how to fix the struggling offenses in the first half.
Snoop Dogg Details Philanthropic Youth Football League
As everyone knows by now who Snoop Dogg is, few actually know about his philanthropic efforts around the sport of football. As indicated on the broadcast, Snoop’s inter-city youth football program has impacted more than 60,000 troubled youths with after-school football programs, helping get them off the streets and keep them in activities following their school days.
Snoop himself revealed during the broadcast that he never imagined how influential his program would be, among many other hilarious moments caught on camera with Snoop in the booth.
“No, sir, no, sir,” Snoop said about if he believed his league would such an impactful place. “But I believed in the people I had on my team, the people I had to run this league.”
“I had guys that I played for, guys that I coached against, guys that were legends in their communities that I wanted to bring to my football league, because I wanted wisdom, I wanted guidance and understanding.”
Some of Snoop’s former youth league players are spotted every week on Saturdays and Sundays, including Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs and CB Keisean Nixon, Las Vegas Raiders CB Jack Jones, Kansas City Chiefs WR Juju Smith-Schuster, and Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud.
Snoop talked more about what his league does for these young student-athletes, speaking directly to the alumni that are now on the Colorado State Rams, one of the teams competing in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.
“We get ’em groomed up,” Snoop said. “I spoke with (Colorado State) coach Jay Norvell before the game. And he was telling me about how it’s awesome the way we bring our kids up and when they get to his program, they’re so easy to coach. It’s a blessing.”
“We’re trying to get them prepared for the next level, so when the next coach takes ’em in, they know that they’ve been coached and they’ve been cared for.”
Snoop Dogg Roasts Struggling Offenses in Arizona Bowl
And as amazing as Snoop’s off-field efforts that they highlighted on the broadcast are, it’s apparent he is not slouching around the mic. Snoop gave us some of the best moments of the entire bowl season during Miami’s drive midway through the second quarter.
“He put the ball there, the receiver’s not pulling it in,” Snoop said after a drop by Miami WR Cole Weaver.
Snoop continued his football analysis with quotes like:
- “Too much paint where it ain’t”
- “He could, but he can’t”
- “You gotta draw the line”
- “I don’t need him looking up, I need him here”
- “Lick ya hands and get crackin’ that way you can’t have an excuse”
- “He tryin’ to get three points”
And if anyone ever questioned Snoop’s football knowledge, he brought us back to his youth with another hilarious story of his time on the field.
“I played receiver and quarterback, but then there was times I would come in and play defensive end,” Snoop said. “They called me the ‘Range Rover’ on defense.”
And that football experience was on display when he diagnosed an overthrown football from Miami QB Brett Gabbert.
“I’m seeing him not be patient,” Snoop said. “If he takes his time, sets his feet, puts it on a line, you ain’t gotta put it in the air like that, I just told you that. Put it on the line, he ain’t even sticking it.”
Snoop, we thank you for your candor and your effort off the field.
