The transfer portal gained a headliner on Monday as Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ star wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. announced his intention to leave the program after two standout seasons. Singleton, a former three-star recruit from Alexander High School in Georgia, quickly became a cornerstone of Tech’s offense.
This season, he started all 12 regular-season games, leading the team with 56 catches for 754 yards and three touchdowns. His 754 receiving yards rank 12th in the ACC, cementing his status as a rising star. Singleton’s entry into the portal has already sparked interest, setting the stage for a highly anticipated new chapter in his career. Where could he land?
Where Could Eric Singleton Jr. Transfer?
Singleton left his mark on Georgia Tech in 2024, starting all 12 games and showcasing his versatility. He tallied 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns while adding 21 carries for 131 yards and a score. As a kick returner, he contributed 241 yards on 11 returns, averaging 21.9 yards per return. His efforts earned him honorable mention All-ACC honors.
As a true freshman in 2023, Singleton proved his promise with 48 catches for 714 yards and six touchdowns. He even completed a pass and added a rushing attempt.

Recognized as a Freshman All-American by multiple outlets, Singleton also garnered honorable mention All-ACC honors that year. His consistency and versatility make him a standout as he prepares for his next chapter.
His pass-catching and play-making ability has propelled Singleton into a bonafide P4 star wideout. He will undoubtedly be among the more sought-after pass catchers in the transfer portal. So where could the 5’11 wide receiver land?
Georgia Bulldogs
It will pain Yellow Jacket fans to see the first team on the list, but unfortunately, the Georgia native is an excellent fit for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Smart just had a first-row seat to see how explosive the sophomore pass catcher can be in Georgia’s 44-42 overtime win over Georgia Tech.
Singleton hit the Bulldogs for eight catches on 12 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown, leading all Yellow Jackets receivers in the in-state rivalry showdown. The Douglasville, Georgia native already opted to stay close to home out of high school, and there is no reason to believe he wouldn’t do it again to join the reigning SEC champs.
Auburn Tigers
Another SEC option not too far from home is the Auburn Tigers. They heavily recruited Singleton after coming out of high school and even extended a scholarship offer to him before he signed with Georgia Tech.
While Hugh Freeze and company will be one of the top programs looking for a quarterback in the portal, they’ll also be looking to secure some top-tier targets for whichever quarterback they land. Singleton would be an ideal fit for Freeze and the Tigers.
Texas A&M Aggies
Add the Texas A&M Aggies to the list of SEC schools that will be in on Singleton. While Mike Elko wasn’t leading the charge at A&M while they were recruiting Singleton out of high school, Elko was at Duke during Singleton’s freshman season at Georgia Tech. The Jackets and Blue Devils didn’t clash in 2023.
Still, Elko was undoubtedly aware of Singleton’s impact as a freshman in the conference as he garnered ALL-ACC Honorable Mention Honors during his first season in Atlanta. Texas A&M offered Singleton a scholarship coming out of high school, and they will most likely be back in the mix trying to lure the pass catcher to College Station once again.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
It’s tough to imagine Singleton going far from home and not landing in the SEC, but if he did, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are an interesting option. The program was all over Singleton out of high school. After de-committing from the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, many believed Singleton was leaning towards Nebraska before staying in his home state with Georgia Tech.
Matt Rhule and Nebraska have been vocal about how aggressive they need to be in the portal to continue taking steps toward a Big Ten championship. They are desperate to add pieces around rising sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola. Nothing would be more beneficial to Raiola than landing one of the top pass catchers from the ACC.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide is another SEC school that is always looking for pass catchers. After learning that they’ll lose junior wide receiver Kobe Prentice to the transfer portal, the Crimson Tide may be eyeing a game-changing wide receiver who can immediately impact an SEC field.
Add that to the fact that Alabama is relatively close to Singleton’s hometown of Douglasville, Georgia and that Kalen DeBoer could poach a high-level pass catcher from Georgia’s backyard, and this could be a legit match for both program and player.
