The prized gem of their 2024 recruiting class, WR Micah Hudson was a massive get for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. But after an 8-4 season that saw Hudson used sparingly in Lubbock, the former five-star recruit has plans to make it big elsewhere.
Hudson announced his intentions of entering the transfer portal on December 9, leaving many fans to speculate which Blueblood program he could turn to next.
Where Could Micah Hudson Transfer?
Nowadays in college football, you can simply follow the money when it comes to players like Hudson. And so, with our candidates to land his services, that’s what we did.

But we also looked at it from the approach of player development, playing time, and familiarity.
All of that churned out these following potential destinations for Hudson’s services in the portal.
Michigan Wolverines
When you follow the money, you land at the Michigan Wolverines. It might sound crazy to land a massive pass-catching threat like Hudson in the portal for an offense that so clearly lacked the ability to throw the ball down field in 2024, but with their recent recruiting coup of Bryce Underwood, that is all changing in Ann Arbor.
With Underwood set to potentially rewrite the NIL earnings market, the Wolverines clearly have the ability to spend on big-time players and massive targets.
If Hudson’s looking to leave the state of Texas, it looks like Michigan could be on the top of that list.
Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes are set to pop up for every big-time receiver in the portal this season, even if that isn’t Brian Hartline’s game. Hartline is a renowned recruiter at the position and hasn’t had to dip into the fruitful waters of the portal over the past few seasons, but Hudson is a player that could break that mold.
It’s also important to note that Hartline heavily recruited Hudson out of high school and he rarely misses on the top receiving prospects.
The only question here for Hudson would be playing time. Are there too many mouths to feed already in Columbus, or with Emeka Egbuka and a handful of other seniors on their way out, will a seat at the table open up?
Texas Longhorns
There is the high likelihood that Hudson decides to stay in state and one of the big programs in Texas scoops up his services. Well, there is no bigger program in the state than the Texas Longhorns.
Coach Steve Sarkisian and Co. were heavily involved in Hudson’s recruitment out of high school and have a familiarity with him because of it. With Isaiah Bond a recent example of the Longhorns’ ability to plug in portal athletes and play them at a high level, Texas could very well be the spot for Hudson.
If Hudson’s goals are play in the biggest games against the best opponents to showcase your next-level ability, don’t be surprised to see Texas as the landing spot for Hudson.
LSU Tigers
Cortez Hankton knows a thing or two about wide receiver play. The current LSU WR Coach once upon a time tried to lure Hudson to Baton Rouge out of high school, and you better believe Hankton will have his eyes on him in the portal.
The Tigers are going to likely usher a new era in at quarterback, which may come into play here, but if they can answer their QB questions, Hudson could very well find his next home on the Bayou.
Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders issued a warning just two years ago. A simple two-word expression that said ‘We Comin.’ Two years later, the Buffs were a game away from the Big 12 Championship Game in 2024 and have now secured several big-name recruits on the recruiting trail.
Sanders has also pulled nearly 100 players from the portal over the past two seasons combined and has no issue ushering in starters through such means. If Hudson wants to take the mantle once held by Travis Hunter at wide receiver, Colorado could be the place to go.

One thing is for sure, playing for Colorado is a much bigger animal than playing for Texas Tech. While the Red Raiders fly under the tortilla-filled radar, the Buffs are a national circus with millions and millions of eyes on them weekly.
Committing to Colorado would include a lifestyle change, but maybe that’s what Hudson is looking for after a year in Lubbock.
