The Tigers are not only 6-0 in the last six outings against the Hokies but 5-1 against the spread as well. Still, they shouldn’t take a Week 11 win for granted, as the home team is 4-1 ATS in their last five games.

As far as the total, the under has hit in five of Clemson’s last seven road bouts, while the over has gone 10-3 in Tech’s last 13 contests overall.

    Clemson’s Winning Probability

The Tigers have a bowl game locked up, but they’re playing for more. At 5-1 in the conference, they need either Miami or SMU to drop a conference game down the stretch to earn an ACC Championship Game berth. Of course, they’ll need to win their own final four games as well — the FPM believes they will.

    Virginia Tech’s Winning Probability

The Hokies are one win away from back-to-back bowl games for the first time since 2018-19. Even if they fall to Clemson at home, which is the likeliest scenario, they’ll have two more favorable bouts to end the year.

Prediction for Clemson vs. Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones (lower body) and RB Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder) missed last week’s matchup with Syracuse, and despite valiant efforts from the backups, the Hokies fell 38-31.

Both appear probable to play against Clemson, but that could’ve been said before last week’s game as well. If both are out once again, the Tigers would have no issue winning and covering the spread. However, let’s assume the engines of the offense return to nearly full strength in Week 11.

The Hokies possess the 26th-best rushing attack in the nation, averaging 201.4 yards per game. Tuten himself has averaged a whopping 6.7 yards per carry en route to 951 yards and 12 touchdowns.

That bodes well against a Clemson team that’s prone to leaking yardage in the ground game (140.0 YPG, 4.6 YPA). What doesn’t bode well is the team’s inability to convert through the air.

Drones has held on to the ball for one of the longest times to throw in the country, forcing an offensive line that allows 2.11 sacks per game (t-73rd) to maintain integrity longer than they are able.

That said, outside of EDGE T.J. Parker, the Tigers have struggled to generate pressure with their front four. At least the secondary has made up for it, ranking 13th in completion rate (55.4%) and 23rd in yards per attempt (6.3) allowed.

The Hokies have a solid pass defense of their own, but they’ve been exposed before, and the front seven was just gashed by Syracuse’s LeQuint Allen (21-121-3 rushing line). So, even with a healthy Drones and Tuten, back Clemson QB Cade Klubnik, RB Phil Mafah, and Co. to leave Blacksburg with a seventh straight dub.
