Quinn Ewers NFL Draft Rumors: Deleted Social Media Post Hints at Ewers Sitting the Rest of the Season

A deleted social media post has college football fans and NFL Draft analysts questioning Texas QB Quinn Ewers' immediate future.

After losing to the Georgia Bulldogs and being sacked seven times last week, Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers’ NFL Draft stock likely took a hit. Or did it? A deleted social media from a major recruiting website has caused fans to ask, “What’s going on with Ewers?”

Texas’ Quinn Ewers To Sit Out the Rest of the 2024 Season?

In a since-deleted Instagram post, 247Sports announced Ewers would sit out the rest of the 2024 season to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Unsurprisingly, it appears it was a false post.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, a source close to Ewers said the post is “absolutely not true,” and 247Sports later posted that the account was hacked.

Additionally, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Ewers’ representative, Ron Slavin, has dismissed the rumors, saying the QB is focused on preparing for Vanderbilt in Week 9.

Ewers practiced with the Longhorns this morning, although he didn’t meet with the media after, as he usually does on Mondays.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian pulled Ewers toward the end of the second quarter against the Bulldogs after he threw for just 17 yards, saying he wanted to give the starter a chance to “recalibrate” at the half.

It proved to be an effective move, as Ewers led the Longhorns to their only points (15) of the game in the third quarter, finishing the night 25 of 43 passing for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

On Monday, Sarkisian spoke highly of his QB1: “We got a ton of respect for Quinn, a ton of confidence in Quinn. I think he is going to come out and play really good football for us here the second half of the season.”

In College Football Network’s Mock Draft Simulator, Ewers is the QB3 and No. 34 overall prospect. He’s completed 68.2% of his passes for 1,101, 11 TDs, and four INTs this season, missing games against UTSA and Mississippi State due to an abdominal strain suffered against UTSA in Week 4.
