Oklahoma heads into the 2024 Red River Showdown 12 wins behind Texas in the all-time head-to-head and as a significant underdog. In addition to the +14.5 spread line, College Football Network’s Football Playoff Meter (FPM) gives the Sooners just a 16.5% chance of securing a victory. That said, the program always performs when the odds are stacked against them.
Texas was a 6.5-point favorite heading into the 2023 edition, a game Oklahoma won 34-30. Brent Venables’ team has proved stingy on defense this season, allowing just 16 points per game, which should help them contain an exciting Texas offense. After true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. got his first start in Week 6, the offense should be in better shape than it has been early in the year.
Toby Rowland, the “Voice of the Sooners,” leads radio coverage of the Oklahoma football program. A longtime play-by-play man, Rowland also calls men’s basketball and baseball for the Sooners.
College Football Network has you covered with the latest from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and every Group of Five conference and FBS Independent program.
