2024 Heisman Trophy Odds: Ashton Jeanty Jaunts to Top of the Table Above Travis Hunter

Ashton Jeanty has dominated in 2024, there's no two ways around that. He now leads the latest Heisman Odds following Week 6, ahead of Colorado's Travis Hunter.

Following a dynamic Week 6 in college football, the latest Heisman Trophy odds have shifted in favor of perhaps the most unlikely preseason bet you may have had. Colorado sat idly by as they watched alongside the rest of the nation in awe of the events that happened in Boise.

Heisman Odds: Ashton Jeanty Now the Favorite

After Week 6, the Heisman favorites have shifted course. But it’s for good reason. Here are the latest odds to win the Heisman Trophy in 2024:

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State: +220

To say Jeanty has been ‘on fire’ to start the year is an understatement. Yes, he leads the country in rushing yards, but that’s not even the half of it.

After Week 6, Jeanty is averaging these ridiculous totals per game, some of which we had to even make up just to showcase how great he’s been:

    Carries Per Game: 19
    Yards Per Carry: 10.9
    Yards Per Game: 206.2
    Touchdowns Per Game: 3.2
    Touchdowns Per Carry %: 16.8%

To put that simply, he’s averaging a first down per carry, over 200 yards per game, and scores a touchdown on 16.8% of his carries. Jeanty is on pace to rush for 2,474 yards this season, and that total doesn’t include what would likely be a Mountain West Championship Game appearance.

He’s carrying the Broncos team that looks ripe for a potential berth in the College Football Playoffs.

    Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado: +320

Travis Hunter falls from No. 1 on the Heisman odds list solely because his Colorado team was on a bye week in Week 6. It has nothing to do with what he’s put forth this season to date and he has a marquee matchup in Week 7 to cement his status as a potential favorite.

Hunter is on pace to set career highs in every receiving category and has continued his lockdown status as a cornerback all the same. No player is playing as much as Hunter is and no player has made the impact Hunter has in this young college football season.

    Cameron Ward, QB, Miami-FL: +450

Okay, so, prior to the fourth quarter in Week 6, you could’ve kissed your Cam Ward Heisman bets goodbye. But, after perhaps the most dramatic comeback of the 2024 college football season, those Ward Heisman tickets are looking pretty nice.

In the come-from-behind victory against Cal, the Hurricanes signal-caller threw for 437 yards and two touchdowns, adding another score on the ground as well. This gives him 23 total touchdowns through six games.

Despite the ‘Canes recent struggles to put opponents away as heavy favorites, Ward has been remarkably consistent. He’s thrown for at least 300 yards in every game and now has two 400-yard outings to his credit.

It’s that kind of performance that Heisman voters will remember in December and a reason why Ward remains a favorite.

    Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama: +1000

We’re getting into the long odds at this point, but with the talent on the Alabama roster, it should come as no surprise that they’ll remain favorites in every game from here on out. Despite slipping up against Vanderbilt, the loss very well could be blamed on the defense and not their signal-caller, Jalen Milroe.

‘Bama’s QB threw for 310 yards, completing 75% of his throws, and contributing two total touchdowns. Milroe has 684 passing yards and six touchdowns to his credit in SEC play, and if those numbers keep climbing, we’ve seen QBs win the Heisman from the conference while not even being in contention (Jayden Daniels most recently).

    Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson: +1300

If you have preseason odds on Cade Klubnik to win the Heisman, then you probably need help or you made a mistake punching the ticket. However, if you got these tickets a few weeks back when it was clear the Tigers had turned the corner, his performance over the past few weeks has made you a smart bettor.

Klubnik went into Tallahassee and dispatched the Seminoles, showing off his legs more than we’d ever seen against the FSU defensive front. He now has thrown multiple touchdowns in the past four games and is on his way to set career-high marks in touchdowns, yards per attempt, and total yards if it all keeps up.

Each game on Clemson’s remaining schedule is winnable and they get to go through the regular season without facing the ACC favorite Miami Hurricanes. However, it’s starting to look more and more like a Heisman QB battle in the ACC Championship game when Klubnik takes on Ward (or, well, Clemson takes on Miami, but you know what we’re implying).

Get your long-odds tickets while you can because Klubnik’s odds will only shorten in the future.

    Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon: +1400

Compared to the man just above him here (Klubnik), it’s much more likely that you have preseason bets on Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel to win the Heisman. And, after six weeks, those are starting to come to fruition.

Gabriel has thrown for 1,449 yards and 11 touchdowns, throwing for at least 240 and 2 touchdowns in every game this season. However, it’s safe to say that he hasn’t really been tested this season.

That changes, of course, in Week 7 when Ohio State heads to Eugene. It will be Gabriel’s first real potential for a Heisman moment. If he can seize the day against the Buckeyes secondary, you better believe he’ll vault up the odds list.
