LSU vs. South Carolina Prediction: Kyren Lacy the Real Difference Maker for Tigers Over Gamecocks

Who comes out on top in this all-SEC showdown in Week 3? Check out the latest odds, key picks, and our LSU vs. South Carolina prediction.

In Week 3, LSU heads to Columbia to face South Carolina, who comes into Saturday’s matchup as the surprising undefeated team.

The Gamecocks had a shaky start, narrowly defeating Old Dominion as 20-point favorites, but rebounded in impressive fashion. They went on the road to Kentucky as 9.5-point underdogs and dominated the Wildcats with a convincing 31-6 win in Lexington.

Meanwhile, LSU sits at 1-1, coming off a lackluster 44-21 victory over Nicholls in a game where they were favored by 46.5 points. Here’s a look at the latest betting odds, spread analysis, and a prediction for LSU vs. South Carolina.

Prediction for LSU vs. South Carolina

Garrett Nussmeier has been outstanding since taking over for Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, throwing for 610 yards and eight touchdowns with a 75% completion rate in just two games. Nussmeier’s performance poses a significant challenge for South Carolina, as his accuracy and decision-making have been key to LSU’s offense.

His primary target has been the dynamic Kyren Lacy, who has recorded 12 catches for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Lacy had a standout performance in LSU’s season opener against USC, with seven catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. He could be a major threat to the Gamecocks’ defense on Saturday.

South Carolina will need to control the tempo of the game, and that effort will start with running back Raheim Sanders. The powerful 6-foot, 230-pound back has rushed for 142 yards on 37 carries and scored twice. Expect the Gamecocks to lean on Sanders early to control the clock and keep LSU’s explosive offense off the field.

This matchup is tough to predict. LSU could easily be 2-0, having fought hard against USC, but they come into this game 1-1 after a shaky win over Nicholls—a game they were favored to win by 46.5 points but failed even to score 46 themselves.

South Carolina, on the other hand, barely escaped a season opener against Old Dominion at home but bounced back to dominate Kentucky in every aspect, securing an impressive win in their SEC opener.

The Gamecocks appear to be better than many anticipated, while the Tigers haven’t quite reached their potential yet.

The game likely hinges on Nussmeier’s performance. He has shown the ability to handle pressure and should be able to manage the hostile South Carolina crowd. With plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal, he has the tools to challenge a Gamecocks defense that looked strong against Kentucky.

It’s unlikely to be a walk in the park, but LSU should be able to pull off the road victory.

Prediction: LSU 30, South Carolina 20
