From the minute Trey Amos entered his name into the college football transfer portal, he became one of the most coveted players available. The former Louisiana cornerback now has a new home, committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Trey Amos Transfers to Alabama

Within 24 hours of Amos entering his name into the college football transfer portal as the spring window slammed shut, the former Louisiana corner had offers from Power Five programs across the nation, including Alabama, LSU, Oregon, and multiple Florida-based programs.

However, Amos will take his talents to Tuscaloosa after committing to the Crimson Tide ahead of the 2023 college football season. Despite having played three seasons for the Ragin’ Cajuns, the standout cornerback will have two seasons of eligibility left for Alabama.

A three-star recruit in the 2020 cycle as the 65th overall high school prospect in the state of Louisiana, Amos helped Catholic High School to a 2017 State Championship while being named the 7-2A District MVP in 2018. A talented all-around athlete, he was also a state champion in the long jump.

Amos made an instant impact for the Ragin’ Cajuns as a true freshman in 2020, snagging his first career interception against Louisiana-Monroe. While that remains his only pick of his college career, the impact-making cornerback has increased his pass breakup productivity every season he’s played.

At 6’1″ and 182 pounds, Amos has good size for the position, which is weaponized by impressive length that enables him to be a ball hawk on the boundary. His excellent ball skills have led opposition offensive coordinators to actively scheme away from throwing in his direction.

Meanwhile, his speed and fluidity have allowed him to be a sticky presence in man coverage. Unsurprisingly, his profile made him an alluring prospect for teams looking to add a disruptive force in the secondary. It shouldn’t be a surprise to see him emerge as a pivotal piece at cornerback for Alabama this fall.
