It didn’t take long for Florida Gator fans to recognize the name: Xavier Restrepo. It’s been a name long since known in the ACC, but somehow, remains criminally underrated on the national level.
After a dominant display against Florida in Miami’s Week 1 opener, Restrepo is sure to find his way to the national circuit on a more regular basis now.
Xavier Restrepo Breaks Ankles of Gators DB
Sometimes all it takes is a highlight-reel moment for a player to take the mantle of the national audience. Or, in the case of Restrepo, it takes several highlight-reel moments to get there.
A walking highlight machine over his career with the ‘Canes, Restrepo’s dominant display of elusiveness, route-running, sure hands, and dominant after-the-catch ability against the Gators has firmly put his name on national watch.
The highlight of him putting multiple Gator defenders in a spin cycle certainly helped his cause.

Restrepo took a whip route for big yardage, leaving a wake of carnage behind him. Notably, starting Gators safety Asa Turner had to be helped to the sideline after losing Restrepo in front of him.
Turner walked off and an immediate injury update was not made available, but certainly was of interest to Gator fans due to their recent depth issues at the safety position.
Restrepo Goes Off Against Florida
Highlight-reel moment aside, Restrepo was remarkably consistent against the Gators. Through 35 minutes of play, Restrepo had hauled in seven receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.
