One of the most anticipated sports video games of all time, EA Sports College Football 25, was released less than one month ago and has already exceeded $500 million in sales. The financial windfall is already being felt by EA Sports, whose shares reached a 52-week high earlier this month.
However, many fans have been left behind the velvet rope in their attempts to join the fun.
Can You Download EA Sports College Football 25 on PlayStation 4?
College Football 25 was immediately available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though it hasn’t been available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox 360. While both systems are still used by those who can’t afford the more up-to-date PlayStation and Xbox models, the previous generation of gaming consoles are not able to play the game. Nor will there be a downloadable option for the platforms.
EA Sports confirmed that its most sought-after game in quite some time will only be available on modern consoles.
This news inevitably leaves PC gamers disappointed that College Football 25 will be absent on the largest gaming platform and without much recourse to change that. Yet, this isn’t the first time PC gamers have felt snubbed by EA Sports.
The company previously dropped Windows support for nearly 10 years before finally bringing it back to PC in 2018. The company then began only releasing “last-gen” versions of the Madden game on PC, which are specifically designed for older consoles and lack the new features introduced that year.
However, the PC version of Madden 24 was the current-gen version, giving hope that PC users were no longer being cast aside by EA Sports. This news on College Football 25, however, gives rise to the thought PC users might still be an afterthought.
The motive to not release the game on the previous generation of gaming consoles could also be financial since EA’s football games do not sell all that well on PC.

The Stream version of Madden 24 is rated “Mixed” with fewer than 7,000 user reviews. That could make the company believe a PC version is not a financially viable endeavor.
The news regarding College Football 25 is not all somber, though. While upgrading your gaming console to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is always an option, the game does have crossplay enabled in multiple modes.
This means that PlayStation users will be able to play online against Xbox users and vice versa.
