We’re on the brink of one of the most exciting and anticipated seasons in college football history. Change is in the air, as we’ve seen one of the biggest conference shakeups in the past few decades. Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12 for the SEC. USC, UCLA, and Oregon join the Big Ten. And the ACC adds SMU, Cal, and Stanford.
When the dust settles in 2024, college football fans will be prepping to watch a long-awaited 12-team playoff, which will crown the king of the land in college football. So, who are the favorites? The latest 2025 college football national championship odds hold the answers!
2025 College Football National Championship Odds
Fanduel Sportsbook provides 2025 College Football National Championship odds, correct as of Monday, August. 5, 2024.
- Georgia Bulldogs +300
- Ohio State Buckeyes +400
- Oregon Ducks +800
- Texas Longhorns +850
- Alabama Crimson Tide +1400
- Ole Miss Rebels +1400
- Notre Dame +1800
- LSU Tigers +1800
- Penn State +2500
- Michigan Wolverines +3000
- Florida State +3000
Georgia Bulldogs +300
Despite being left out of the College Football Playoff in 2023, the Bulldogs enter 2024 as the odds-on favorite to win their third national title in the last four seasons. The Bulldogs are used to being the favorites now, as they enter the 2024 season as the top-rated team for the third straight season.
Can Carson Beck lead this talented squad through the CFP and earn Kirby Smart his third national championship ring at Georgia? The latest national championship odds seem to indicate that’s a distinct possibility.
Ohio State Buckeyes +400
Ryan Day has brought in his college head coach, Chip Kelly (the former Oregon and UCLA head coach), to lead the offense and hopefully find more consistent quarterback play.
Experienced quarterback Will Howard transfers in from Kansas State to lead Kelly’s offense in Columbus.

The Buckeyes have retained most of their key contributors from last year’s team and bolstered their roster with significant additions from the transfer portal. Notable newcomers include Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins and Alabama safety Caleb Downs.
Ohio State fell short against Michigan and missed the Big Ten Championship Game for the third consecutive year in 2023. Expectations for the Buckeyes in 2024 are sky-high as they aim to defeat the Wolverines, capture the conference title, and ultimately win the national championship.
Oregon Ducks +800
It has felt like a two-horse race for the last few seasons in the Big Ten (sorry, Penn State fans). Now, the Oregon Ducks are arriving for their inaugural season in the Big Ten, and they’re looking to shake things up. The Ducks enter 2024 as the third-highest national championship odds.
After a solid 10-3 season in 2021, the Ducks excelled even further in their second year under Dan Lanning, winning the Fiesta Bowl and finishing with a 12-2 record. Their only losses were to a Washington team that ultimately fell to the Michigan Wolverines in the national title game.
Despite losing quarterback Bo Nix and several key contributors to the NFL draft, the Ducks expect to compete for a Big Ten and national title in 2024. Oregon had an excellent offseason in the transfer portal, bringing in top-tier talents like Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart, and Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad.
These acquisitions, featuring players ranked among the top 10 at their positions, have heightened expectations for the Ducks’ upcoming season. Some key dates for the Ducks are October 12, when they host Ohio State in Eugene, and November 2, when Oregon travels to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan at The Big House.
Texas Longhorns +850
Many believe Steve Sarkisian has the most talented roster he’s had at Texas as he guides the Longhorns into the SEC in his fourth season at the helm. He’s going to need all the talent he can get as the program joins the SEC and has an absolute gauntlet of a schedule.
After a non-conference tilt in Ann Arbor against the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines, Texas will square off against new SEC foes Mississippi State, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. They also have Oklahoma on October 12 for the Red River Rivalry.
Texas has the firepower to emerge from the SEC in the 12-team playoff, but it will have to consistently play its best football throughout its debut campaign in the self-styled best conference in college football.
Ole Miss Rebels +1400
It appears Lane Kiffin finally has a championship contender. Fresh off leading Ole Miss to its best finish during his tenure, Kiffin is now set on an SEC championship and national title run.
The Rebels return with most of the top offensive talent from last year’s team, including quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Tre Harris, and tight end Caden Prieskorn.
The Rebels also excelled in the transfer portal, significantly strengthening their defense with stars like edge defender Princely Umanmielen and interior defensive lineman Walter Nolen.
It’s the highest expectation there has been in Oxford in quite some time. Can Kiffin take another step forward with this Rebels football program? The national championship odds set them as an early favorite ahead of the season.
Looking at Long-Shot Teams for the 2025 College Football National Championship
Here are a few teams with long national championship odds to watch for a possible sprinkle-on to make an improbable run in 2024.
Utah +6000
Utah’s Kyle Wittingham always brings a smashmouth defense that plays fast and can hang with anyone. If quarterback Cam Rising can return fully healthy in 2024 to lead the Utes, this is a dangerous team that no one will want to play if they break into the College Football Playoff.
NC State +10000
The Wolfpack brought in former Coastal Carolina star quarterback Grayson McCall, one of the most experienced signal-callers in the country.
The offense looks stronger with McCall, the defense has been reloaded, and the schedule is favorable—no Florida State. The ‘Pack are also winners in two of their last three against Clemson and fully believe they are equals to the mighty Tigers.
A ten-win season, an appearance in the ACC Championship Game, and a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff are all within reach for Dave Doeren’s squad. If they get in, they could be dangerous.
