    EA Sports College Football FAQ

When Will EA Sports College Football Come Out?

From 2005 to 2013, EA Sports released their college football video game in mid-July — typically a handful of weeks before their launch of Madden — with the exception of 2011 (June 24). That trend continued with the franchise’s rebooting in 2024, as the company revealed a release date of July 19.

How Much Will EA Sports College Football Cost?

As is the current norm for video games, the standard version of EA Sports College Football 25 will cost $69.99. However, for fans willing to shell out extra for a leg up in the game’s new Ultimate Team mode, there is a Deluxe Edition priced at $99.99. And, accommodating the true die-hard football fans, EA Sports has unveiled an MVP Bundle that features the Deluxe Editions of both College Football 25 and Madden 25 for $149.99.

Who Is on the Cover of EA Sports College Football?

With three editions of the game come three different covers.

    • Standard: Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter takes center stage, with Texas QB Quinn Ewers (left) and Michigan RB Donovan Edwards (right) flanking him.
    • Deluxe: An entire team of athletes takes the field, with Hunter, Ewers, Edwards, Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, and Georgia QB Carson Beck as the only ones with their names on their jerseys. Leading them onto the field are flags for Ohio State, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Auburn.
    • MVP Bundle: Edwards goes solo, leaping to catch a high pass.

How Can You Pre-Order EA Sports College Football?

EA Sports College Football 25 is available to pre-order on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Non-standard versions of the game will have a three-day early access period, and EA Play members will have a 10-hour early access trial beginning on July 16.

What Platforms Can You Play EA Sports College Football On?

Fans can boot up EA Sports College Football 25 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though it is not slated to launch on PC.

According to ExtraPoints’ Matt Brown, a port to PC likely won’t happen — at least in the near future — because “Supporting, patching and upgrading PC sports titles is apparently more expensive and more manpower-intensive.” There is also the issue of modders being able to add in players who haven’t opted in to the game, opening EA Sports up to potential lawsuits.

EA Sports College Football won’t be backward compatible with the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, meaning that users with those consoles will be forced to upgrade to the latest version of their preferred systems to access the game.

Yet, there is a silver lining. It appears EA Sports College Football 25 will have crossplay enabled in multiple modes. This means that PlayStation users will be able to play online against Xbox users and vice versa.

Why Did the Game Go Away for 11 Years?

After the last iteration of EA Sports’ college football video game (NCAA 14) was released in July 2013, the company had to shelve the franchise due to lawsuits over using players’ likenesses without compensation. The games did not use real-life names, but players were easily identifiable in nearly every other way.

However, in 2021, the NCAA implemented a new name, image, and likeness (NIL) policy, opening the door for EA Sports to revive the video game series that users had sunk hundreds of hours into. And in February 2021, the company announced the return of the beloved franchise.
