Fan-favorite modes Dynasty and Road To Glory are returning and will be joined by two brand-new ones: Road to the College Football Playoff and College Football Ultimate Team. Of course, fans of Madden are no strangers to Ultimate Team, where players create their own team of collected NFL players and compete against other players or AI opponents.
The game mode is a cash cow for EA Sports. In 2021, the company made $1.6 billion from Ultimate Team across FIFA and Madden alone, accounting for 53% of its total extra content revenue for that year. That money comes through users buying packs of randomized players inside and coins, the game’s currency that allows them to purchase players through the Auction House.

- Wear & Tear System: Throughout the course of a game, players’ health, fatigue, risk of injury, and the possibility of on-field mistakes increase the more snaps they play, forcing users to be strategic with substations.
- Pre-Snap Recognition: It’s unclear if users will be able to see ratings advantages and fatigue levels pre-snap like in Madden, but the press release described this experience with, “Read the game, then read your players to make the right decision when the game is on the line.”
- Homefield Advantage: Homefield advantage can swing momentum in games, and EA Sports brings the effect to College Football 25, with screen shaking, missing pre-play icons, and moving play art impacting away teams.
College Football 25 will include the sights, sounds, fight songs, and stadiums from the most iconic settings across all 134 FBS programs. Unique team run-outs, rivalry rituals, synchronized crowd-chants, loudness meters, and real game-day audio will bring the sport to life on the screen.
Additionally, the iconic voices of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will call marquee matchups in the game, while Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack will hold the mic for all other contests.
Before we get to the more logistical information to know, there is one final feature that will have fans drooling: team builder. Users will be able to design uniforms, helmets, and fields and upload their own logos. These created teams can be used in the offline Play Now and private Dynasty modes, and users can also download teams created by others in the community.
EA Sports College Football launches on July 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can pre-order one of three versions of the game right now: Standard ($69.99), Deluxe ($99.99), and the MVP Bundle, which includes the Deluxe Edition of College Football 25 and Madden 25 ($149.99). Moreover, EA Play members can enjoy a 10-hour early access period beginning on July 16.
