Demouy Kennedy’s stint in Colorado ended after one season, as the former Alabama transfer entered the transfer portal for a second time. What does the fifth-year senior have left to offer, and which landing spots make the most sense?
Landing Spots for Demouy Kennedy
Kennedy suffered a torn ACL toward the end of his last season with Alabama in 2022, and his recovery limited his ability with Colorado in 2023. The 6’2″, 215-pound LB played in 11 of 12 games, primarily on special teams. Aside from the injury, that was also the case with the Crimson Tide, as Kennedy struggled to see the field for the defense.
Kennedy joins a growing list of Colorado players leaving Deion Sanders’ program, as RB Alton McCaskill entered the portal shortly after the LB. This offseason, the Buffaloes have lost 33 players, with 25 transferring in — great for continuity.
Regardless, Kennedy is now searching for his third team in as many years. Largely still living off his size/athleticism potential that earned him a four-star recruiting rating and a spot on Nick Saban’s roster, where will he land in 2024?
Baylor Bears
The Bears are returning four of their five snap-count leaders at LB last season. However, none were all that impressive. Head coach Dave Aranda recruited Kennedy when he was the DC and LBs coach at LSU. He could still view the Alabama native as a high-upside target waiting to be unlocked. At the very least, Kennedy adds depth and special teams experience.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Kennedy has a couple of strong connections to the 2024 Razorbacks. DC Travis Williams attempted to lure him at Auburn in 2020, while special teams coordinator Scott Fountain did the same at Georgia.
Considering Kennedy would add value to both of their units, it’s possible they seek his services once again, even after adding former Georgia LB Xavian Sorey Jr.
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
New head coach Raymond Woodie recruited Kennedy at FSU and would love to deploy his skill set at outside linebacker for the Wildcats. He may not want to move down to the FCS, but reps are hard to come by for a fifth-year player with limited experience on defense.
Alabama A&M Bulldogs
Alabama A&M offers an FCS opportunity closer to home, and both of their starting LBs are gone. There are far worse situations than finishing his last year as an LB1 in the SWAC, especially if Kennedy hopes for a shot at the NFL.
Jacksonville State Gamecocks
Another option in his home state is Jacksonville State, which is entering its second year in the FBS. Exit LB Quae Drake; enter Kennedy. The returning Laletia Hale can move to Drake’s thumping middle linebacker role, allowing Kennedy to roam from the WILL.

The Gamecocks went 9-4 and won a bowl game in Year 1 under Rich Rodriguez. Kennedy could help keep the success rolling.
