NIL has opened opportunities for student-athletes to earn money. Hunter has signed his fair share of deals as one of the most high-profile players in the sport.
Nevertheless, he is putting his newfound wealth to good use, buying his mom a house in Savannah, Georgia. The emotional moment has gone viral in a 13-minute-long video.
A Georgia native, Hunter was a five-star prospect out of Collins Hill High School in Suwanee and surprised his mom by making her think he was househunting for himself.
In the YouTube video, Hunter shares his plan with the camera before picking up his mom and heading to the house. We then have a tour of the five-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house before Hunter hands his mom a card.
In a hugely emotional moment, Hunter’s mom reads the card. Then she realizes the house is for her.
Hunter shared the video on his YouTube channel, which has amassed 291,000 subscribers. The video has already gone viral and has over 54,000 views just 17 hours after being released.
According to On3, Hunter has an NIL valuation of $2.4 million, making him one of college football’s top NIL earners in 2024.
The Colorado cornerback has struck several deals with large companies, including KFC, Greenwood, Michael Strahan, SoHoodie, 7-Eleven, Cheez-It, FreeFrom Sports, and American Eagle Outfitter, as well as many others.
In NIL valuations, only household names such as his teammate Shedeur Sanders and Texas QB Arch Manning earn more in endorsement deals.
The star Buffalo is also expected to be one of the top-rated players in the EA Sports College Football 25 game when it is released.
