After leading a successful campaign as defensive coordinator of the Penn State Nittany Lions this past season, Manny Diaz is back as a head coach, taking over the Duke Blue Devils. This will be Diaz’s second head coaching job after guiding the Miami Hurricanes for three seasons from 2019 through 2021.
How much will the Blue Devils be paying Diaz to coach the team? We take an in-depth look at his salary, contract, and net worth following his return to the head coaching arena in 2024.
Manny Diaz Salary and Contract in 2024
In December, Duke hired Manny Diaz as their head coach to replace Mike Elko, who left the school to take the Texas A&M Aggies coaching job. When Diaz was hired, there were no details released as to what his contract or salary looked like.
Because Duke is a private institution, they’re not obligated to release employees’ salary and contract information, such as the new head coach, Diaz. Typically, the Blue Devils don’t share such information regarding their employees.
Without official information, only educated guesses can be made as to Diaz’s salary as the Blue Devils head coach.

While at Penn State, he was paid $3.6 million in 2023 and was set to make $3.7 million in the 2024 season. Presuming he didn’t take a salary cut to get back into the head coach realm, that would put reasonable salary estimates for Diaz at around $4 million for this season and beyond.
Although Diaz’s salary and contract will likely remain a mystery throughout his time at the program, there is no secret about the excitement from within the Blue Devils about his hire as head coach.
“Coach Diaz has an unbelievable football mind and a track record of success that will allow him to hit the ground running here in Durham,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Nina King enthused during the announcement of his hire. “He is well prepared to lead Duke football into our next iteration of success.”
Manny Diaz’s Net Worth
With no public information on Diaz’s salary or contract length, it is impossible to ascertain his net worth as the head coach at Duke.
Even allowing for an estimated salary of $4 million, no contract length has been released at the time of writing.

Furthermore, there are no details of any performance-related incentives, supplemental compensation, or non-performance-based contract enhancements that would bolster Diaz’s salary — and therefore net worth.
What we do know, however, is that if he continues the current trajectory of the Duke football program, his net worth will be immeasurably more to the university than any financial remuneration.
The belief within the program is that he’s exactly the man to deliver the return on investment.
“We think the best is yet to come here at Duke,” University President Vincent E. Price exclaimed as he welcomed Diaz to the Blue Devils. “With Manny at the helm of our program, we look forward to our team’s successes on the field, in the classroom, in the community, and beyond.
