After two seasons with the Arizona Wildcats, QB Jayden de Laura is back in the transfer portal for the second time in his career. The 2024 season will be de Laura’s fifth year of eligibility in college as he looks for his third home.
Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Jayden de Laura
This past season, de Laura finished with 1,120 yards passing and 10 touchdowns to just five interceptions. An injury kept him off the field, eventually leading to him losing the starting job to Noah Fifita.
In 2022, de Laura threw for 3,685 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions with the Wildcats.

Before Arizona, de Laura originally attended Washington State for his first two seasons. In 2020 and 2021, he combined for 3,684 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions before hitting the transfer portal.
The 2023 campaign was trending to be a strong season for de Laura before his injury. With him entering the transfer portal for the second time, he should gain interest from multiple schools looking for a starting quarterback.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Back when de Laura was deciding on which college to attend initially, Ohio State made an offer to him before he picked Washington State.
Buckeyes starting QB Kyle McCord decided to enter the transfer portal and committed to Syracuse for his next destination, so the position is vacant now, and the only competition is sophomore QB Devin Brown. This would mean that if de Laura jumped to Ohio State, he might have a chance to win the job. One advantage for de Laura over Brown is accuracy, which could help make the competition fierce during spring ball.
BYU Cougars
BYU is another team that made an offer to de Laura in high school, but he turned them down for Washington State before the 2019 season.
BYU is looking for a new starting quarterback, as Kedon Slovis completed his last season of eligibility this year.
This would be an easy fit for de Laura to join the program, and he would be the favorite to win the job. His biggest competition in spring camp will be Jake Retzlaff who got playing time during the season. It’s a job that is winnable for de Laura and also gives him a chance to compete in the Big 12.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
The Honolulu native might consider coming home to play for the Rainbow Warriors after receiving an offer back in high school. Junior QB Brayden Schager entered the transfer portal at one point before withdrawing, so he will remain with Hawaii for the 2024 season.
Hawaii finished 5-8 in 2023 with Schager giving a mixed performance throughout the season. The team would look for de Laura to push Schager or even replace him as the starting signal-caller. This would be a homecoming that Hawaii would be okay with and even embrace with de Laura upgrading the depth of the position.
San Diego State Aztecs
San Diego State once made an offer to de Laura to be their future quarterback before he decided to go to Pullman and play for Washington State. Now, the Aztecs will be in search of a new quarterback as Jalen Mayden is done with school.
San Diego State has a new regime, and they have already brought in a new quarterback in Florida State transfer AJ Duffy. Still, De Laura has an opening to attend school at San Diego State and take the job after the team went 4-8 and was one of the least productive passing games in the Mountain West.
Maryland Terrapins
Here is a sleeper pick with Maryland, but there is much speculation about their quarterback situation with Taulia Tagovailoa considering transferring and his overall eligibility. Should he decide to leave the Terrapins or have exhausted all of his eligibility, an opening for the quarterback could be there with some connections in place.
Taulia’s brother Tua Tagovailoa, attended the same high school that de Laura did in Hawaii at Saint Louis School. It’s a stretch, but if the Terrapins are looking for a new quarterback to replace Tagovailoa, de Laura would be able to step right in.
