Going to place a stake on Utah State? Hoping to pounce on the latest Panthers’ odds? If you’re going to take advantage of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl odds, consider some of the following factors before you part with your hard-earned cash.
The Aggies come into the first-ever matchup between these two teams as a slight favorite, with Georgia State on a wretched run of form. After going 6-1 to open the campaign, they’ve gone five straight without a win, with only one of those games being close. Utah State has won three of its last four, and there are many reasons why they can live up to their tag as a favorite.
Utah State has been hit and miss covering the spread this season, but they should get the job done with just a field goal-sized victory needed to cover. The last time they were a 2.5-point favorite, the Aggies won by eight points. However, Georgia State has covered every time they’ve been a single-digit underdog, so if you’re the hedging type, that’s the play for you.
Wrapping up the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl odds, over half of Georgia State’s games this season have come under the total points line. However, they’re facing Utah State here, who have just three games under the line this season with their entertaining combination of offense and complete and utter lack of defense. Points first, potato shower later.

There are seven college football games on Saturday to compile your DFS team from. If you’re new to DFS, Fanduel Superflex contests require you to select a quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, and a “Superflex” that can be any of the above or a tight end.
With so many Georgia State players absent, your Famous Idaho Potato Bowl picks might be light on Panthers. However, Darren Grainger is a legitimate option at quarterback. Coming up just shy of 3,000 total yards with season with 25 total touchdowns, his ability to add yardage on the run will be particularly alluring from a fantasy perspective due to the Utah State run defense.

That same defense might allow Freddie Brock to make a name for himself with Marcus Carroll out of the picture. However, running back picks are more likely to come from the Aggies, with Davon Booth and Rahsul Faison two extremely dangerous fantasy backs. Faison has two 100+ yard games in his last three, scoring a touchdown in each.
Utah State has had three quarterbacks throw double-digit pass attempts this season as they’ve sought to find the solution under center. It looks set to be Levi Williams, who gets the start in his final ever game of football, but in reality, it’s irrelevant when you’ve got a weapon like Jaylen Royals pulling passes out of the sky for fun. He should surpass 200 points for the season here.
Prediction for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Okay, so we’ve furnished you with the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl odds and some DFS picks. Now, it’s time to close this thing out with our prediction. Will it be Blake Anderson or Shawn Elliott showering in fries come full time?
Which 6-6 team will sneak over .500 while the other suffers the indignity of a losing season?
If we’ve learned anything from the 2023 college football bowl season so far, it’s to not put all your eggs in the basket of believing a team can’t win because of opt-outs. However, when you look at the sheer amount of production and talent missing from both sides of the ball for Georgia State, it surely handicaps their ability to take care of business against Utah State.
Running back Carroll would have had a field day against an Aggies run defense that has allowed just shy of 200 yards per game and 4.79 yards per carry. Replacement back Brock may well have a game for the ages, but the offensive advantage appears to be fully with the Aggies.
They might not have Cooper Legas under center, but wide receiver duo Terrell Vaughn and Royals are a handful for any defense, let alone one that has allowed the third most yards per game in the 2023 season while giving up 28 touchdowns and 8.5 yards per passing play.
The Aggies even have a special teams advantage with kicker Elliott Nimrod. Pour those fries!
Prediction: Georgia State 31, Utah State 34
