With the transfer portal window fully open and national signing day just around the corner, college football rumors are swirling. After visiting both the NC State Wolfpack and UCF Knights this past weekend, it appears a favorite is to land former Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall is beginning to emerge.
College Football Rumors: NC State Favorite To Land QB Grayson McCall
When former Coastal Carolina QB McCall entered the college football transfer portal, he immediately became one of the hottest properties for quarterback-needy teams. After spending the weekend with two of those teams — NC State and UCF — the dynamic dual-threat is now favored to remain close to where he established himself as one of the best QBs in college football.
According to SportsBetting.AG, McCall is favored to choose NC State over UCF and a plethora of other teams interested in acquiring his services.
The oddsmaker is currently offering odds of -150 for the former Coastal Carolina playmaker to join the Wolfpack as NC State looks to bolster their quarterback room.
Adding smoke to what appears to be an already considerable fire, social media sleuths spotted that McCall’s most recent follows on social media platform “X, formerly known as Twitter” included current NC State quarterback Brennan Armstrong, recent portal addition Zeke Correll, and fellow portal target Justin Joly.
The man who is set to reap the most significant rewards from the addition of a quarterback of the caliber of McCall’s, CFN Freshman Offensive Player of the Year Kevin Concepcion, is also listed as one of the former Coastal Carolina quarterback’s most recent follows. Their transition from social media to on-field connection appears to be set to follow closely behind.
McCall was in Raleigh for a visit this past weekend before moving on to Orlando, where he was pictured watching basketball with current UCF head coach Gus Malzahn and Knights’ offensive coordinator Darin Hinshaw.

While NC State has been extremely active — and successful — in the transfer portal since the window opened, McCall would be their most significant acquisition to date.
The three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year has thrown for over 10,000 yards in his five seasons with the Chanticleers while throwing 88 touchdowns with just 14 interceptions as one of the most efficient QBs in the nation. McCall will have one year of remaining eligibility at whichever school he commits to, with NC State looking set to land their man in the near future.
