Dan Hurley has been at UConn for 7 years now. In his 7 years, Hurley has led the Huskies to 2 back-to-back championships in 2023 and 2024. Hurley has coached some amazing players in his tenure. UConn continues to recruit brilliant talents and is a contender to go all the way in March Madness.
Despite back-to-back championships, UConn could not carry forward its form and faltered in 2025. With Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingon’s draft, the Huskies were a little bleak in squad depth. However, with Liam McNeeley, Solo Ball, and Alex Karaban, UConn still had some premium talent. They led the Huskies to a 22-9 record in the regular season. Despite a decent run, UConn lost to Creighton in the Big East Tournament semifinal and lost to NCAA champions Florida in the second round of the March Madness.
Solo Ball has high hopes for himself and the Huskies roster going into the new season. He recently challenged Florida after exiting the NCAA tournament vs the Gators.

“The rematch with Florida is circled on my calendar. I didn’t play the way I wanted to in March,” Ball said as he admitted being fired up to face the Gators. Fans mocked the fiery statement, and trolled Dan Hurley and the Huskies.
“Just make sure Hurley don’t get to b*tchin in tears after that L again,” one fan poked UConn HC.
“Someone bring Hurley a life jacket so he doesn’t drown in his own tears after this next beat down,” another fan replied.
“Boohoo. Another L on the horizon buddy,” another commented.
“Beat em once and now we’re their Super Bowl,” another fan said.
“Solo you getting packed up again my boy,” one fan gave the challenge back to Ball.
“Hopefully your coach doesn’t cry again when we dub,” another fan mocked Dan Hurley.
“He sucks…so overrated lol,” another commented.
“Yeah, a regular season victory should help erase that lol,” another fan made fun of the last year’s loss.
UConn Huskies’ 2025-26 squad
Dan Hurley once again has assembled a decent squad. It might not be as strong as their squad during their back-to-back championship run. But they still have quality in their reigns. With Alex Karaban, Solo Ball and Jayden Ross, the Huskies have a strong starting 5.
Hurley might face problems in managing the bench and working around squad depth. UConn will have to play its best brand of basketball to go deep in the March Madness.
