All the preseason hype about Arch Manning ahead of the 2025 college football season has turned around to become a “bust” conversation for many fans and analysts, as they predicted the Texas star to win the Heisman Trophy, be the no.1 overall pick and take the Longhorns to a natty. His performance so far has been utterly underwhelming.
However, Manning’s “underwhelming” performance is not on him, as analysts like Josh Pate and Jordon Rodgers agree, the Arch Manning hype ahead of the season was “doomed” from the beginning, as it’s only his first year a a starter.
On that Tangent, Tom Brady, who is considered among the best NFL players to ever play the game, also came out to show his support for Manning in an interview with SI’s Elizabeth Swinton:
“Before, [players] had the kind of ability to fail when people weren’t watching, to build that resiliency within themselves, So I think it’s a real challenge these days for these young kids because Arch Manning, you know, seems like a great kid and great player.”
“Peyton had a lot of years to develop,” Brady continued. “Eli had a lot of years to develop and, you know, I was a college kid once, too, and I wasn’t the best quarterback at that time. And how people remember me after my pro career was a lot different than I remember me after my college career, which is a lot different than me how they remember me after my high school year. So give people a chance to learn and grow and develop and put them in the right situation.”
Arch Manning Shows Faith in Steve Sarkisian’s Play Calling Abilities
Despite the Longhorns’ win against Kentucky in week 9, Texas fans were not happy with the 16-13 win and were left demanding a major coaching change as they thought head coach Steve Sarkisian’s play calling wasn’t up to the mark.

Talking about this sentiment, Steve Sarkisian made it clear that he doesn’t have any plans to step down from his play-calling abilities, saying that this is why he was hired, while also admitting that he has to do a better job
Arch Manning was also asked about his views on the situation, after which he reaffirmed his faith in the Texas head coach and said that that’s the reason why he came to Texas, because he knows how smart Sarkisian is with calling plays.
