Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd had similar UConn careers, both tainted by injuries. Despite missing out on multiple games in college, the duo showed why they were highly rated in whatever game time they got.
Bueckers fought for her national championship dream and opted for a redshirt senior year. Now, after winning the NCAA title, Fudd wishes to carry forward her UConn legacy and play another year at UConn. She has also opted to play in her redshirt senior year. Paige and Azzi, who are in a relationship, have etched their names in the program’s history books.
However, where do they stand on the list of the greatest college players that emerged from Geno Auriemma’s UConn? Fudd recently shed light on how much she respects and values the legends before herself and Bueckers.
Azzi Fudd was asked to name UConn’s all-time starting 5. Her answer did not include her girlfriend Paige Bueckers. Fudd picked Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, and Rebecca Lobo.

Geno Auriemma had had some of the greatest basketball players under his wing at UConn. By his own admission, Taurasi is the best player he has ever coached. Taurasi won three consecutive NCAA championships in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi’s careers at UConn overlapped for a year. Bird had already won a national championship in 2000 before Taurasi joined the Huskies. The duo won a title together in 2002.
Maya Moore also led the Huskies to back-to-back NCAA titles in 2009 and 2010 with an unbelievable 150-4 record. Rebecca Lobo’s UConn career is often remembered for the perfect 35-0 record and the 1995 national championship.
Last and most successful UConn star, Breanna Stewart, won four straight NCAA titles, meaning she won the national championship in each of her collegiate years. That is a feat no one else has ever achieved.
Safe to say, Azzi Fudd’s list was justified. Paige Bueckers and herself might just be two of the greatest players out of UConn, but that starting 5 could not possibly have any replacements.

Fans were a little surprised when Fudd didn’t include her girlfriend Bueckers on the elite list.
“No Paige,” one fan showed surprise.
“Not PB5?!!!” another fan was shocked.
“This is gonna cause an argument with Paige,” one fan joked.
“The smirk at the end knowing this is going to send Paige,” another had a hilarious take.
“Azzi plays with PB. She wants to see if P is trolling,” one fan commented.
“No Paige Buckers??? Her GF,” another fan wondered.
“Justice for Phee and Paige,” another replied.
