Carson Beck Breaks Silence on Backlash Faced for Allegedly Throwing Teammates Under the Bus Post Louisville Loss

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck suffered his first loss of the season last week against Louisville Cardinals in a narrow 24-21 game. With 32 seconds remaining, Miami was in position to tie or win. However, Beck threw his fourth interception of the night, which sealed the win for the Cardinals.

In the postgame interview, the quarterback put the blame for that interception on tight end Elija Lofton saying he ran the route wrong. This led to backlash from fans and analysts alike, including former Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano.

On Tuesday, ahead of this week’s game against Stanford, Beck addressed the criticism when he came across comments like “throwing him under the bus.” The quarterback clarified what he meant while answering the question and how it was taken out of context by social media.

“But again, I think people could take things out of context sometimes, and that’s not at all what I was doing,” Beck told reporters. “I’ve never been that type of person; I’ve never been that way, and I’ve always taken accountability for my mistakes. Again, I didn’t play my best—honestly, I had a terrible game, and that’s a huge part of why we lost, and I have to live with that. I have to take that. But again, it’s going to be how I respond and what I’m able to do in the weeks moving forward.”

Miami HC Mario Cristobal Denies Blame Game After Carson Beck’s Controversial Remarks

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal previously came forward to address Carson Beck’s remarks which many feel was the quarterback throwing his teammate under the bus. Cristobal revealed that there is no such culture of blaming within their group.

“I wouldn’t be aware or in tune with, just trying to digest your statement in terms of people under the bus,” Cristobal said. “Again, that doesn’t exist here, because it’s not part of the culture and just not allowed. It just has no place. But I think the entire team has complete clarity that every coach, every player, everybody takes this. Every win and takes every loss together. There is no exception, and again, there is no blame or finger-pointing.”

“Like I mentioned there, that’s something that’s very new to me, and you bringing that up, but there is no hint or inkling of any blame being passed around to anybody in our room, our locker room, or our building,” Cristobal added.

Miami has been doing well this season but they need to make sure that last week’s loss against Louisville was a one-off. The team is pretty stable and are in contention to make the College Football Playoffs.
