Darius Slayton Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Giants’ WR Ahead of Week 8

Wide receiver Darius Slayton has had an impact in the New York Giants’ offense for the last seven seasons. A 2019 fifth-round pick, Slayton has logged 271 catches for 4,063 receiving yards, and 21 receiving touchdowns.

Slayton signed a three-year, $36 million contract extension with the team prior to the 2025 season. In five games this season, Slayton has 12 catches for 166 yards.

    What Happened to Darius Slayton?

During the New York Giants’ Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints, Darius Slayton suffered a hamstring injury. The injury forced him to leave the game and he missed the next two weeks as a result.

Slayton will look to make a return back this week if all goes well.

Will Darius Slayton Play This Week?

It’s too early to tell whether or not Darius Slayton will make his return back to the field this week. However, he made his return back to the practice field on Wednesday, his first time practicing since suffering the injury.

It’s a good sign that Slayton is practicing, and the his status in practice the next two days should give more of a sign of whether or not he will play this weekend.

If Slayton misses Sunday’s game, fans can expect to see him in the Giants’ next game.

    Darius Slayton Fantasy Outlook

After Malik Nabers suffered his season-ending knee injury, it’s made things more difficult for all the other New York Giants‘ wide receivers. Aside from Wan’Dale Robinson and Nabers, no other Giants wide receiver has more than 12 catches for 166 yards, which is Slayton’s stat line.

For five games, even some with Nabers, Slayton hasn’t been off to a good start. He isn’t a guy that is viewed to get you 1,000 yards or 10+ receiving touchdowns, but he is usually productive enough to be used as a slot or WR3 late in the season.

When he returns back to the field, he should still be one of Jaxson Dart’s top targets.
