Start ’Em Sit ’Em Week 8: Best Fantasy Defense Options & Matchups To Target

Week 8 of the NFL season is on the horizon, and fantasy owners are all scrambling to set their lineups. Six teams are off this week, and managers could be scrambling to pick up starters, including a defense. Here are the best defenses to start and sit for Week 8.

    Defenses to Start

    Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee

The Colts are the best start of the week and quietly the surprise of the NFL season. They have had a top-10 pressure and turnover rate, and they are playing the lowly Tennessee Titans. The Titans average the lowest points per game, giving the Colts the nod as the best defensive start of the week.

    Atlanta Falcons vs Miami

The Falcons could easily be the pickup of the week with their upside in this week’s matchup. They play the Dolphins, who have not only struggled on offense but are also potentially facing a change at quarterback. The Falcons have improved their pass defense this year, and it could be a big day for them against the Dolphins.

    New England Patriots vs Cleveland

The Patriots are allowing the 3rd fewest yards per carry in the NFL which is great for the matchup against Cleveland. The Browns are extremely rush-heavy as they are starting a rookie in Dillon Gabriel at quarterback. This just looks like a recipe for disaster, as the Browns might be forced to air it out for the first time since Joe Flacco got traded out of there.

    Defenses to Sit

    Pittsburgh Steelers vs Green Bay

The Steelers, although usually reliable, have struggled to get turnovers this year. The Packers, meanwhile, have one of the more reliable offenses who have limited turnovers. Even though the Steelers are usually a starting defense, the matchup just isn’t favorable this week.

    Denver Broncos vs Dallas

The Cowboys are the hottest offense in the league right now, and even though the Broncos have a fantastic defense, it seems like no one can stop Dak Prescott. The Cowboys are averaging the most yards per game at 390.6. After watching Denver let up 30 against the Giants last week, starting the Broncos might not be a very good idea this Sunday.

    Bottom Line

Week 8 will be a matchup-heavy week for fantasy owners, as there are plenty of lopsided matchups to take advantage of. From the best offenses to the worst offenses, matchups will be key to picking out a defense this week. It could be the difference between winning and losing.
