Darren Waller Injury: All We Know About Dolphins TE’s Availability Following Released MRI Results

Tight end Darren Waller made the unexpected move to retire from the NFL following the 2023 season. Waller sat out of the 2024 season but made a decision to return back to the game this season.

in the offseason, the New York Giants traded Waller and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick following his decision to come out of retirement.

Waller was inactive for the Dolphins’ first three games of the season, but the made the most of his season debut against the New York Jets in Week 4. Waller had two receiving touchdowns in the game. He then scored touchdowns in consecutive weeks against the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers.

While Waller has been a rare bright piece to the Dolphins’ team this year, there was some concerning news about the tight end this weekend. During the team’s Week 7 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Waller suffered a pectoral injury in the second quarter, and left the game.

While the initial fear was that Waller’s pectoral injury could be serious, the Dolphins got a relief as the injury is a pec strain and not a tear. He is considered week-to-week and likely won’t miss too much time.

It’s been a disastrous season for Darren Waller’s Miami Dolphins

The AFC East division has two of the worst teams in the NFL- the New York Jets (0-7) and the Miami Dolphins (1-6.) Ironically, the Dolphins’ lone win came against the Jets in a Week 4 27-21 victory.

Miami is third in the division as the Jets sit in last, but Miami’s chances of playing in the postseason seem as far away as possible for them to slip in. They’d have to likely win out, which is very unlikely.
