Analyst Drops Blunt Opinion on Bill Belichick Possibly Controlling the Damage at UNC Amid 2–4 Record

Bill Belichick’s North Carolina Tar Heels improved to 2-4 after winning Saturday’s game against California. However, it’s still a rocky start to the season and questions are now being raised whether UNC can salvage what’s remaining of the season and secure themselves a bowl game by winning atleast six games.

On Monday, UNC alum and college football analyst Grace Raynor appeared on The Sports Gossip Show where she dropped a blunt opinion on what to expect from North Carolina ahead. She mentions UNC’s schedule to say they have favorable matchups ahead which could help them control damage.

“In terms of turning it around, I mean, the schedule is somewhat favorable to them,” Raynor said (34:30). “UVA is a better team than people thought, and they’ll play them in a few weeks. They go to Cal this week, which I think will be very interesting. They’ve got to fly cross-country — Cal’s got a pretty fun, pretty spunky freshman quarterback that I’m sure is going to be tough to game-plan for. But there are winnable games on this schedule.”

Belichick has found himself in the middle of the controversy for a lot of reasons. He was rumored to have discussed buyout terms with his college before he and the athletic director came forward to reaffirm their commitment. UNC fans sure thought they would be in for a good season but so far it’s anything but that.

Grace Raynor Discusses Public Spectacle Surrounding Bill Belichick’s Tenure

During the same segment, Grace Raynor pointed out that many at Chapel Hill thougth that the arrival of six-time Super Bowl winning head coach will bring 8-9 win season for UNC. However, so far, the rocky start under Bill Belichick is starting to put the program in disarray.

“This is something that, you know, we’ve talked to some people in Chapel Hill about — and I have some friends down there from college who send messages being like, ‘Everybody’s freaking out,’” Raynor said. “I mean, I was at Carolina during the academic scandal, and so UNCC’s had its stains. It just feels so publicly messy right now — like Carolina has just aired all our dirty laundry out for the whole world.”

Raynor also highlighted that UNC has not handled the season very well. She pointed that seeing the current state of program no one might want to join here. Overall, Raynor believes that the program needs to win in football to change their miserable state in all aspects.
