Should I Start Jahmyr Gibbs or Zach Charbonnet? Fantasy Outlooks Explored Ahead Of MNF Doubleheader

As Monday’s doubleheader nears, fantasy managers look to their final players to secure wins. Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs and Seattle’s Zach Charbonnet are both valid starts for Week 7, but only one appears primed for a breakout night.

    Jahmyr Gibbs Fantasy Outlook

In 2025, Gibbs’ usage in the Lions offense has seemingly increased. The third-year back has become quite reliable, averaging about 14 PPR fantasy points per game. This season, he’s also seeing more goal-line work, scoring 4 touchdowns. Last year, David Montgomery took the majority of the red zone snaps.

Speaking of Montgomery, he is still involved in the Lions’ double running back attack, but it is just not a 50/50 split so far this year. In the 2025 season, Gibbs is outpacing Montgomery by 22 touches. This week will provide a tough matchup for the Lions’ backs, though, as the Bucs rank 5th in rush yards allowed.

    Zach Charbonnet Fantasy Outlook

Charbonnet has struggled to be an effective runner in recent games, yet still holds some value because of one thing – Touchdowns. Charbonnet has been able to get into short yardage situations over Kenneth Walker III for the Seahawks, though in the first six weeks of the season. While he hasn’t really had a breakout game on the ground, he has collected 3 touchdowns this year.

Still, this week’s matchup is rough. Houston’s defensive front has been among the NFL’s best, allowing just 90.6 yards per game and ranking in the top 10 in rush defense statistically. Even if Charbonnet sees decent volume, he’ll need a touchdown to deliver fantasy value, which isn’t exactly a safe bet against this unit.

    Verdict: Start Jahmyr Gibbs

Both running backs have their appeal, but Gibbs’ starter value gives him the nod. Charbonnet remains a solid depth option or low-end flex play, but Gibbs’ role in both the running and passing game makes him a must-start every week.

If you’re looking to start your fantasy week with confidence, Gibbs is the player. Expect him to rack up points through both the air and ground, while Charbonnet will need a touchdown to stay relevant.
