With Brock Purdy set to miss Week 7, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to start Mac Jones again, while Bryce Young continues to tear things up with the Carolina Panthers. This now begs the question for Fantasy managers, and that is who among them should they keep or pick up?
Both quarterbacks have been very good for their respective teams and have proven that they could win. However, what does that say from a Fantasy perspective?
Mac Jones Outlook
The San Francisco 49ers have now started Mac Jones in four games ever since their QB1, Brock Purdy, went down with an injury. In those four games, the 49ers have been 3-1 so far, with many asking what might happen should Brock Purdy return, given that Jones has been playing a lot better than what many had expected.
He currently leads the NFL in passing yards per game with 313 and so far has 1,252 yards overall for the season, with him leading a very depleted team that has been missing many of its biggest stars like Brock Purdy and George Kittle. His 1,252 passing yards are also the most ever by a San Francisco quarterback in his first four starts.
Jones has shown consistency, and with Purdy out, he is expected to continue performing well, especially against the struggling Atlanta Falcons. With Purdy gone, he would be a fine pickup for any Fantasy manager, especially those who initially had Brock Purdy as their Fantasy pick.
Bryce Young Outlook
Bryce Young has also been consistent, though he has already been intercepted already, with him also showing that he can run a good running game. With Chuba Hubbard returning, he has yet another weapon in his arsenal.
Their next opponents will be the winless New York Jets, so expect Young to probably have a good game against them. Hubbard and Rico Dowdle would also probably rotate off one another, which means Young can expect some fresh targets coming into Week 7.
Verdict
While Mac Jones is mostly seen as just the backup for the injured Brock Purdy, he has taken his opportunity to start and went wild with it and now becoming one of the best quarterbacks this season. While Bryce Young is good and a better choice for the rushing game, Jones should be the better choice given how consistent he has been in the last few weeks and changing a lot of minds.
