On March 13, 2024, running back D’Andre Swift and the Chicago Bears agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal in free agency. This came after he had a breakout season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, where he rushed for 1,049 yards and scored six total touchdowns.
Last season, as Chicago’s starting running back, Swift rushed for 959 yards and six touchdowns, but averaged just 3.8 yards per carry. He added 386 receiving yards and posted a career-high 9.2 yards per catch.
Looking to make a bigger leap in his second season with the Bears, Swift is on course for one of his most productive seasons in the NFL.
What Happened to D’Andre Swift?
As the Chicago Bears prepare to take on the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, D’Andre Swift popped up on the injury report this week. Swift was a limited participant in the team’s last two practices due to a groin issue.
The groin injury reportedly occurred during the Monday night game against the Washington Commanders, but it wasn’t serious enough to sideline him.
Is D’Andre Swift Playing This Week?
D’Andre Swift is currently listed as questionable to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints with his groin injury. However, he told ESPN’s Courtney Cronin that he will play this Sunday.
D’Andre Swift says he will play vs. New Orleans. The groin injury is one that came from the Commanders game but isn’t one he thinks will affect him in game. He was limited on Thursday and Friday, more of a product of maintenance than anything else.

If Swift is inactive, Kyle Monangai would likely get the start at running back.
D’Andre Swift Fantasy Outlook
In five games this season, D’Andre Swift has carried the ball 70 times for 295 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and has rushed for two touchdowns. He additionally has 15 receptions for 152 yards and a receiving touchdown.
If Swift is healthy and active for the rest of the regular season, he’s on pace to record 1,003 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns, 51 receptions, 517 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.
Swift looks like he is primed for a leap in production this season, and can be a reliable RB2 or flex option in fantasy. Fantasy owners should be satisfied with the season he has had thus far.
