George Kittle Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About 49ers’ TE Ahead of Week 7

The San Francisco 49ers have been decimated by injuries this season, and one of the first of those injuries was to star tight end George Kittle. Kittle suffered a hamstring injury in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks and has been out ever since. However, with Kittle returning to practice this week, Kittle is optimistic that he will play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

    What Happened to George Kittle?

In the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, George Kittle suffered an injury to his right hamstring. The injury occurred while he was running a deep route down the right sideline early in the second quarter. Kittle has not been able to play since, meaning the 49ers have played nearly the whole season without him to this point.

Is George Kittle Playing Week 7?

Kittle opened his practice window this week. That means he has 21 days to return from his injury before a decision must be made. If the decision was completely up to Kittle, he would play on Sunday. He spoke about this on Thursday.

“I fully plan on playing on Sunday,” George Kittle said. “As long as coach Kyle (Shanahan) lets me. It’s up to him. But hopefully I’m out there. Which I think I will be.”

Kittle then spoke about what it felt like when he got injured.

“I just felt like a rubber band snapped in my hamstring,” Kittle said. “I was like, ‘Ah, I’ve just got to go to the locker room after that one.'”

When a player is placed on IR, they are forced to miss at least four games, so it was possible for Kittle to return last week. However, he decided to be cautious, waiting another week to return. It appears he will be ready for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.

    George Kittle Fantasy Outlook

George Kittle is one of the top tight ends in football when healthy. As a result, if Kittle plays and is ready to go as he says, he is a must-start player in any fantasy lineup.

According to Yahoo, he is the No. 4-ranked fantasy tight end in football. So, there should be no question for anyone to leave him on the bench if he plays on Sunday.
