Omarion Hampton Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Chargers RB Ahead of Week 7

Omarion Hampton’s injury has thrown a wrench into the Los Angeles Chargers‘ season, though backup Kimani Vidal has been playing well so far. The rookie running back has shown a lot of promise and has been performing very well for the Chargers, but his rookie season has hit a massive speed bump with this injury.

The rookie already has 314 rushing yards on 66 carries, resulting in two rushing touchdowns, with 136 receiving yards on 20 receptions and just one fumble so far in 2025. His injury was seen as very bad for the team, with some experts urging the team to trade for another RB as Hampton stays in the injured reserve. However, Vidal has been performing so well that the Chargers have held off that plan for now.

    What Happened to Omarion Hampton?

During the Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders, Hampton was trying to run from the backfield into a defender, who clipped the running back and this led to him hurting his foot. Omarion Hampton was then seen limping on his left foot, causing many Chargers fans and Fantasy managers to gasp.

He was seen hobbling off the field and was later seen wearing a walking boot on that left ankle that he was favoring. He was soon placed on the injured reserve, which means he could be out for a long time. So far, he has already missed that Week 6 matchup against the struggling Miami Dolphins.

When is Omarion Hampton Coming Back?

Omarion Hampton is expected to miss the Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. After being placed in injury reserve, the running back is expected to miss four weeks or more, which means that the injury is that serious. Four weeks is the optimistic estimate, though a more realistic one might have him return around Week 13 or even later.

    Omarion Hampton Fantasy Outlook

With Hampton missing four weeks or more, it should be safe to either drop him or sit him out for around four weeks as a reserve. He is not expected to return anytime soon, which means managers should decide what to do with him as the Week 7 matchup against the Colts approaches.

For now, Fantasy managers can put their trust on Kimani Vidal, who has so far been explosive for the Chargers, already getting 124 rushing yards in that win over the Miami Dolphins on Week 6.
