After star rookie running back Omarion Hampton got injured, Kimani Vidal has more than stepped up for the Los Angeles Chargers. He has been very efficient and a boon for fantasy managers who picked him up after Hampton got sent to the injured reserve. As the Chargers take on the Indianapolis Colts for Week 7, would it be wise to pickup or keep Vidal?
Vidal has become the favorite target for plays, as he is playing 67% of the Chargers’ snaps, resulting in 21 carries with 138 rushing yards. He proved that he could be a very good asset for the Chargers during that game against the Miami Dolphins where he had 124 rushing yards.
While he has not scored any rushing touchdowns yet this season, he does have one receiving touchdown, with three receptions on 13 receiving yards. He may finally get to have his chance to score a rushing touchdown soon enough.
With Hampton being seen as missing even more time as he languishes in the injured reserve list, many expect Vidal to be the one to hold down the fort for the RB position, especially with how consistent he has been playing so far. Against the Indianapolis Colts, he is expected to be the one to start, especially after his monster performance against the Miami Dolphins.
As for Hampton, his injury has been seen as not season-ending and could be back in around four weeks. For now, it should be safe to stick with Vidal, especially as he has proven to be quite the asset for the LA Chargers.
The Debate on Who To Pick: Kimani Vidal Or Teammate Hassan Haskins?
When Omarion Hampton suffered that ankle injury that would likely have him miss one entire month, it sparked a debate on who would be starting, Kimani Vidal or Hassan Haskins. Many believed that Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh would pick Haskins, given that he previously played under him at Michigan. However, Harbaugh went with Vidal instead, surprising many.
For the 2025 season, Haskins has only had seven carries with 25 rushing yards so far, which may have shown that Harbaugh had the right decision on who to start between the two backup running backs.
For Fantasy managers, Vidal should make for a smart pickup as Hampton may not be coming back for at least three more weeks. He has been very explosive and could put up even more numbers against the Colts this week.
