Billy Napier’s seat at Gainesville has never been hotter. Everything points to Napier potentially being fired this weekend, with the Florida Gators currently having a 2-4 overall record. The Gators did manage an upset over the No. 9 Texas Longhorns a couple of weeks ago, but that was immediately followed by a defeat to No. 4 Texas A&M last week.

Some in the world of football have started discussing the matter as a done deal and have named potential replacements for Napier at Florida. One of the ideas? Fellow SEC coach Lane Kiffin, who has a net worth of $14 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). At least that’s what Steve Spurrier recently told ESPN.
“Lane Kiffin would win a national championship at the University of Florida or, at minimum, consistently be a contender every year,” he said.
However, it seems unlikely that Kiffin would jump on this job midseason, especially considering the season his Ole Miss Rebels are currently having. The Rebels are in a legit College Football Playoff run, with a 6-0 record and a No. 5 standing in the AP Poll. Why would Lane Kiffin leave this great situation to start a lengthy rebuild at Gainesville?

Lane Kiffin on Ole Miss’s Upcoming Game Against Georgia Bulldogs
This weekend’s game between the Ole Miss Rebels and No. 9 Georgia is likely to be a key matchup for both teams.
Lane Kiffin seems to know it, and he has made it clear that he appreciates the caliber of the rival he will be facing this weekend.
“I think in five years, in the regular season, they’ve only lost to Alabama and then in our game here last year … so it’s a very challenging team to always play, especially there,” Kiffin said. “So we’re going to have to have a great week of preparation and prepare to go on the road in a very tough environment with elite players and a phenomenal coaching staff, led by Kirby (Smart) and what he’s been able to do,” he said.
“I said yesterday in the call (with media) when asked that he finds a way to win a lot of games in a lot of different styles and overcome a lot of adversity in games and keep his team together. That’s why he’s the best coach in college football now,” he added.
The task is not an impossible one by any means, with the Rebels having pulled off the upset against Georgia last year. This time around, they come as a higher ranked team, but not the favorites. According to ESPN Bet, Georgia is a 7.5-point favorite.
