During last year’s Draft, not many people knew about running back Bucky Irving when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked him in the fourth round. After a historic rookie season, where he rushed for 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns while adding 47 catches for 392 yards, Irving was widely viewed as one of the best running backs heading into this season.
In the first four games of the season, Irving has 90 total touches, with 237 rushing yards, 197 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. But he has been sidelined for the past two weeks following a Week 4 injury against the Philadelphia Eagles.
What is Bucky Irving’s Injury?
During the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Week 4 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Bucky Irving suffered a sprained foot. The initial prognosis was that Irving would be sidelined for just a few weeks. However, he picked up another injury.
ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter reported that Irving also suffered a partially torn, dislocated shoulder, which is more concerning than his foot injury. He missed the last two games as a result of the injuries.
Is Bucky Irving Playing in Week 7?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a big game in Week 7, with a Monday Night Football showdown against the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately for them and Irving, it seems like he will miss the game.
Via Schefter, head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that Irving is ‘not in play’ for Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Schefter said earlier this week:
“Bucs HC Todd Bowles told reporters that RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) and Chris Godwin (fibula) are ‘not in play’ for next Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions.”
