Florida Gators might be closing down on the chapter of head coach Billy Napier, according to the latest report from USA TODAY’s Matt Hayes. They have had another underwhelming start to the season which sees Florida in 11th place in SEC standings with a 2-4 overall record.
Hayes claimed through sources that Athletic Director Scott Stricklin met with influential boosters on Tuesday. This might signal a potential firing in the works which can reportedly come as early as this weekend.

“They are going to call James Franklin!!!!” one fan mentioned recently fired Penn State head coach.
“So, is this just a week-to-week thing now? Beat MSU, wait another week. Essentially just waiting for another loss?” one fan added.
“Have heard from notable boosters he is getting fired Sunday regardless of outcome. Fingers crossed!” another fan confirmed the news.
“The influential boosters should use their influence on the BOG to fire bum a** Strick too,” one fan wrote.
However, there are some fans who believe Napier deserves another chance to prove himself.
“I think Billy deserves another chance,” one fan wrote.

Billy Napier After Loss Against Texas A&M
Just when it looked like the Gators might gain some momentum after defeating the Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M crushed them 34-17 last week, raising calls for Billy Napier to be fired already.
Like after every loss, Napier pinned the blame on his players, and this time it was defense, who got called out by the head coach.
“I think our kids, early on defense, started a little bit slow,” Napier said.
He also shared that the offense couldn’t keep up with the momentum after early points.
“Offensively, we started fast, and then we kind of settled in … struggled to generate many points from that point forward on offense,” Napier said.
Finally, Napier acknowledged the loss and said it was time to put it behind them and focus on the task ahead.
“So, there’s no quick fix here,” he added. “The best thing to do is go win… We got a lot of kids in there trying to do things the right way. We’re close. I think we’re getting better on offense, and I think the defense has played really tough and hard the entire way.”
It remains to be seen if Florida waits for another loss or as the report mentions, fire Napier by next week.
