Two schools that have always produced amazing talents over the years have been Duke and Kentucky. Due to the pedigree of the players, stature and playing styles, both schools have been fiery rivals. So when Duke and Kentucky stars become teammates in the NBA, there’s always an added bitterness which makes the teammate banter more fun. Just like with Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg.
All three of Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg are number one draft picks in their respective classes. Duke’s Kyrie Irving was the first overall pick in 2011 for the Cleveland Cavaliers, whereas Kentucky’s Anthony Davis became the first overall pick from Kentucky in the following year. AD and Kyrie had faced each other before in the iconic rivalry of Duke and Kentucky. Another star who took the basketball world by storm was Duke’s Cooper Flagg. Recently, AD reignited the epic rivalry between the 2 schools by poking fun at Kyrie and Flagg.

AD reacted to the behind-the-scenes video of the Mavs trio posing for the photoshoot of the upcoming season. He said, “I am looking at three number 1 picks. Two that went to a school that you can’t spell without University of Kentucky, without UK. You can’t spell Duke without UK. They are holding up the number ones for me because I am the only one who won a national championship out of these three.”
AD had to remind his 2 teammates that they ended their college career without any rings while AD had won the NCAA title with Kentucky in 2012.
