Insider Claims Brian Daboll’s Sideline Antics During Jaxson Dart’s Concussion Protocol Check Can Lead To Serious Fines For Giants

The New York Giants might need to brace for a hefty fine after head coach Brian Daboll sparked controversy by entering the tent where quarterback Jaxson Dart was getting evaluated for concussion.

The incident happened during the victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday and it has triggered a joint investigation by the NFL and the NFL Players Association.

On Monday, NFL insider Tom Pelissero appeared on Pro Football Talk and shared what he believes could be the action taken by the league after being questioned about what could happen after Daboll entered the tent.

“Well, Maria, the NFL is taking this very seriously. No one is allowed in the tent; coaches and players can’t go in,” Pelissero said. “Running back Cam Skattebo actually went inside during the concussion evaluation of Jaxson Dart.

“The league called the NFL Players Association the next morning to start a joint review. There will be interviews with all relevant medical staff, coaches, and players. The Giants face a potential fine and also the possibility of losing a draft pick depending on how this all shakes out.”

What Happened With Jaxson Dart, Leading To Controversial Action By Brian Daboll?

In the third quarter, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart took a hard hit that prompted a concussion evaluation to determine if he’s fit to continue. The evaluation was been done inside a tent, which as per league rules, no one is allowed to enter.

Despite that, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was spotted on the broadcast walking over to the medical tent and sticking his head into the tent through its opening. He also had an intense conversation with Giants physician Dr. Scott A. Rodeo regarding the evaluation. However, he revealed to media that he apologized to the team physician and that his intent was not to undermine anyone.

“Yeah, I mean, look, if you’ve ever been on an NFL sideline, there’s a lot of emotions. I know I was asked about gloves the other day. There are a lot of emotions. I certainly am an emotional guy,” he said.

“I apologized directly to our team physician. I just wanted him out there if he was okay. But I wanted the process — like, if we were getting ready to go for it on a potential fourth down, I would have burned a timeout if he could have come out there. I was asking how long it was going to take.”

If Daboll is found guilty, the Giants could have to pay a fine up to $150,000.
