The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of getting a great addition to their squad. After serving a six-game suspension to start the 2025 season, Rashee Rice is eligible to return, possibly suiting up for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Rice’s suspension has officially ended, thus making him a player of record going into Week 7. He will be a decision that the Chiefs must make, in terms of activating him right away or letting him get ready for his game action return.

The timing couldn’t be better for Kansas City. Despite coming off a solid 30-17 victory over the Detroit Lions to improve to 3-3, the offense has been searching for that explosive playmaker who can turn short passes into chunk gains and Rice brings exactly that element to the table.

Rice Back From Suspension After Off-Field Vehicular Incident
Rice hasn’t played in a regular-season game since Week 4 of the 2024 season when he suffered a severe knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers, ending what looked to be a breakout season. Prior to this injury, Rice was playing well professionally and was one of Patrick Mahomes’ most reliable target.

Rice’s suspension follows him being involved in a serious multi-vehicle accident in the Dallas area on March 30, 2024. On July 17, 2025, Rice received five years probations and 30 days in jail while the NFL imposed a six-game suspension which Rice completed.
The preseason has afforded a small sample of what Rice can still do. He was only able to get in 20 offensive snaps but caught both targets thrown to him for 13 yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears in the 3rd preseason game.
