Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed during an altercation in Indianapolis in early October. Early reports indicated that he was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Photos were later revealed, showing a large gash across the cheek of the truck driver who stabbed Sanchez.
After initially being viewed as the victim in the incident, Sanchez was arrested with charges of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. While these were initially misdemeanor charges, the battery charge was later upgraded to a felony.
Sanchez has been quiet about the incident, but on Sunday spoke for the first time. He spoke with a Fox reporter about the incident.
“Former NFL Quarterback and FOX Analyst Mark Sanchez is out of the hospital and was booked into the Marion County Jail this morning. He was there to be fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken. The judge said he must do this before being able to leave Indiana.”

Sanchez spoke briefly with reporter Max Lewis.
“Sorry I can’t answer all your questions,” Mark Sanchez said.
He then quickly added that his focus was on his recovery.
How Did the Incident Between Mark Sanchez and a Truck Driver Begin?
According to a police affidavit, Sanchez was intoxicated and smelled of alcohol outside an Indianapolis hotel as the incident began. He started to accost 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole. The confrontation escalated and Tole pulled out a knife to defend himself. He then stabbed Sanchez several times in the upper right torso. The driver also said he was forced to pepper-spray Sanchez to stop the attack.
According to authorities, the incident began because of a parking dispute. Tole has since sued Sanchez and Fox Corp, claiming severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function, other physical injuries, and emotional distress.
The felony charge Sanchez is facing carries a possible sentence of one to six years in prison. His court case is set to begin pretrial on Nov. 5.
