Amid Alvin Kamara Trade Rumors, Insider Reveals New Info On Saints RB’s Future With New Orleans

With the November 4 trade deadline fast approaching, all eyes are on the New Orleans Saints on whether they’ll trade their running back Alvin Kamara, who has rushed for 283 yards on 73 carries through five games this season.

While whispers about his potential trade are getting louder, NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided a big update on Kamara’s choice on what he wants to do. According to Rapoport, Kamara has “told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he’d like to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career.” The running back signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension last October, but he will have a decision to make on his future with the franchise before next season.

The Saints have started the season 1-4, making Kamara a prime asset worthy of trade and acquire future options. However, it seems the veteran has prioritized staying with the franchise that selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Apart from Kamara, other Saints players, who are also trade targets, include wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, pass rusher Carl Granderson, offensive lineman Dillon Radunz and linebacker Pete Werner. However, Loomis has previously argued that a fire sale is not the right way to go.

It remains to be seen if Loomis can once again turn down the deals for Kamara and keep him with the franchise despite a lackluster start.

Will Alvin Kamara Play In Week 6 vs New England Patriots?

Alvin Kamara battled an ankle injury sustained in last week’s game against the Giants throughout the week. He was designated “questionable” on the Saints’ final injury report, as the ankle issue limited him in practice before the game on Sunday.

Just minutes ahead of the game, CBS Sports confirmed that the running back is active for tonight’s game. Despite the injury tag, ESPN insider Adam Schefter also confirmed the same.

However, the Saints might look to keep his usage moderate and could rely on backup Kendre Miller with increased snaps. The Patriots are solid in defense against the run game; thus, the Saints might be cautious on the play they use Kamara, given they won’t like to aggravate his injury.
